Write the women name down and look for ways to tell them apart. Yall getting clapped all episode had me laughing lol

Claire is a brocon. She just angry that she cant have him. I agree with the 20 second recap; lets make that an industry standard.(Also, ONLY in the first episode of the season)

haha. to be fair, that first glimpse of Mary is a croped image of her head. Since I know she wears a hat, it was easy to identify her, but all they really got was her face.

Regarding what you were talking about around the Shadowgarden girls. Everyone in this world is living in the reality that the world is while Shadow/Cid is weaving the story that turns into reality for everyone else. That is at least what I've been able to grasp. There is also the possibility that he is just, somehow, connected to the world and is shown what can, and will, happen but is too ignorant to identify it as such and just goes down one of the many paths shown that he enjoys, thinking that it's all just his ad-libbing. Though I think most people would agree with the idea that he is somehow creating his own story and, due to his overwhelmingly powerful magic, manages to make it all real.

Nah, from reading the novels this is really just an isekai. He is NOT manifesting reality in any way - he is simply a one-track-mind bumbling fool that doesn't care about anything else. That is the whole joke so far. Unless the author decides to actually make the whole "he is manifesting reality" a thing in any novels going forward, this theory is hogwash and I cringe hard everytime people call what happens "manifesting".

"That boy doesn't have black hair or black eyes" "What? Who the hell are you?" This show and its deadpan humor hasn't skipped a beat for an epic first episode.

There is actually a lore reason why a bunch of important characters have similar features; not going to say it tho ^^ Mary has crimson red hair as does Midgar royalty like Iris and Klaus. The way Delta's hair is super similar to how Aurora's hair is. How Beatrix and Alpha look super similar to Olivier. How Cid and his sister and mother have raven black hair (and Cid has his crimson eyes, though not always - that's another subtle lore hint). All those are deliberate character traits the author has set up this way. It's actually insane that they replicated this so faithfully in the anime. I know you watch a bunch of different shows and probably don't have the head space to analyze all this stuff in detail (and it is all very easy to miss too), but if you dive deep into it there is a lot more story the anime tells in it's presentation and character design than just what is happening on screen.

The frenzy has begun

Definitely could be. But he's got some tremendous luck then. Remember in the beginning of season 1 when he threw the knife onto the map and just so happened to miss his target but hit exactly where the cult in that area were hiding?

You are looking too deeply into this. In reality, it's not much deeper than "Haha, he's lucky to be right" joke, without reality bending sheananigans at work. Because he is more often totally wrong and off base than not, and he only gets lucky enough for his bullshit to somehow fit the events vaguely enough for his cultists to accept it as gospel. I'd even say there is much more evidence that he is actually not influencing the world on metaphysical level (other than just being a powerhouse that's a wrench in most players' plans) than somehow "controlling the story subconsciously" or whatever. Like the strongest evidence IN THE WHOLE SERIES is just those two instances in episode 2: throwing a knife randomly and somehow being right and telling a story about Cult of Diablos. But here is where it falls apart. While he was kinda vaguely right about Cult of Diablos in the generalest sense, he was totally off base about their goal and motivation. If he was manifesting reality, Demon Diablos would have actually cast a curse upon heros' descendants (which we know is false, as there was no curse, but Cult experimentation involved). If he was manifesting reality, they would actually be fighting random bandits, as this is what he genuinely believes most of the cultists are. It just makes no sense, and I would even say that if this was the case, it would make the whole series worse.

Felix Hilscher

Yeah, the whole joke of it all is that he is totally winging it, thinking he makes shit up that in his mind could never actually be real but then actually turns out to be real - without him realizing what he is doing. It is easy to forget - but while he does his whole "I am the Eminence in Shadow"-thing, deep down he is still bound by the perception of his old life and the common sense of Earth, e.g. "I just make up this red moon thing because the moon is a bit red and spew some lines. Look how they make it into a story!". He is still bound by that perception. And because he doesn't actually care about anything else than living his fantasy of being an edge-lord, he doesn't even think about it. It's not that he is too dumb to realize stuff, it doesn't even register in his brain. There are some really nice subtle hints in the anime that show that he can/could be aware of what is going on but then immediately dismisses thinking about it because it doesn't interest him. A good half of the whole story is not about him, but how him carelessly messing around impacts the world and people around him. Cid's character growth can only be measured in 1/1000s, but he has tremendous impact on those around him.

Run, if you value your life.

in the beginning when he says i smell it they all thought he was talking about their BO or something hence the spraying and opening the window.
