We're joined by special guest and friend of the show Sean, aka 'Flying Grizzly,' who helps us cover episode 32 of Victory Gundam, aka 'Doggorla's Violent Advance.' Sean offers bold takes on mechanical design and the ideal TV format for Tomino, Thom is surprised to learn that nerds listen to this show, and Nina gets everything she wants: clumsy mobile suits, a familiar voice actor, and the vindication of being right about everything all the time forever.

Please listen to it!

32 is such a great ep even if it's filler-y because everyone is actually on-model and look great (thanks to the late great Ousaka!), I love the Doggorla, I love the comedy, and I love the trainwreck that is Zanscare where nearly everyone is ready to stab one another in the back, which beautifully parallels the League Militaire's growth into a big found family. (Unfortunately for me, no one in the LM is nearly as interesting as individual characters.) And I love and grew up with Legendary Samurai Troopers too despite it being a kinda lousy show on its own and the result of Sunrise riding on the popularity of Saint Seiya! So we should technically blame SS for the sentai/hero team trend in anime! And guess what, Juurota Kosugi voices a recurring villain in LST too! Everything is connected. 🤗 I must also say trying to place a reason for Cronicle's mask is pointless because there really isn't one (and the one the redhead himself gives at the beginning of the show is clearly not true!). Still haven't found confirmation, but it smells like pressure from sponsors/producers for the show to have a masked guy. That said, Tomino also loves characters with nervous, idiosyncratic habits. In this ep, Cronicle wears his mask half-way because both his senpai and Brough make him nervous, but his Emotional Support Char is also there. 😂 Keeping her around as much as possible keeps him from getting Garma'd by the other "Char!"

I hope Sean is more careful in the future, that is a lot of Victory Gundam to consume in a short period of time!
