Nanopocalypse

LORE DUMP! (that's not really a spoiler at this point!) The anime loves to slide Shahkti's origins under the rug because it's not appropriate for the target audience. Maria did raise the girl as a single mother when Shahkti was little and while still looking after young Cronicle. Anime guidebooks suggest Shahkti is the result of a one-night stand Maria had back on Side 1 Albania. She is explicitly a sex worker in the novels, and becoming pregnant with Shahkti is how her powers emerge. After Fonse Kagatie took Maria, Cronicle and Shahkti to Side 2 Ameria, Kagatie pressured Maria to get rid of Shahkti. He stages a kidnapping in the novel and lies to Maria about Shahkti being dead. It's not elaborated on in the anime, but it seems like Maria was more involved in Shahkti's adoption to new parents on Earth, thinking her daughter would be safer with them. Yet, Maria accepts the reunion with her several years later, because Kagatie has been trying to isolate Maria from what little family she has (Cronicle being in BESPA is also part of this scheme). Katejina likely had no idea how Shahkti was really born and made up some very ironic and feminist-sounding baloney to impress the cultists, as I doubt Cronicle could share a rather dark family secret with her. (Which is why he is initially very sad when he has to confront Shahkti with the truth in ep. 19.) The Underhook cult watching Maria's sermons with or without authorization from Zanscare MIGHT also be a nod to the novels: Mariaism became a thing on Side 1 Albania and other colonies after a certain little brother records his big sister's healing sessions/sermons and sells them to promote her services. These videos somehow reached Kagatie, who decided to use Maria and her new age religion as political tools. In anime canon it's not as clear how Mariaism spread before Kagatie's involvement, probably because the writers thought there's already too many precocious kids in Victory, the adult main rival couldn't have grown up as one too. 😅 Back to the present, I think Pippiniden is annoyed that Cronicle isn't isolated like he used to be, between having Katejina by his side and now being re-reunited with his niece. All these women and kids cramp his style. Plus his little kouhai is less malleable and might have real power now...

K'Braid System

a small detail i noticed in next week's episode is that the gunblasters are inexplicably using the same model of hyper bazooka as that of the Nu gundam
