This week on MSB, we're talking about Victory Gundam episode 40. It's got the full Victory package: a cool robot, a bad war, grief, comedy, vertically oriented death, continuity errors, Flanders doing something implausible, and a late night wikipedia binge! Plus, we finally figure out where Newtype powers come from. Please listen to it!

Show Notes

  • We previously discussed the influence of Indian religions on New Age philosophy in Season 1, Episode 39 "Encore."

  • This week's additions to that discussion are from:

Mobile Suit Breakdown is written, recorded, and produced within Lenapehoking, the ancestral and unceded homeland of the Lenape, or Delaware, people. Before European settlers forced them to move west, the Lenape lived in New York City, New Jersey, and portions of New York State, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Connecticut. Lenapehoking is still the homeland of the Lenape diaspora, which includes communities living in Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Ontario.

You can learn more about Lenapehoking, the Lenape people, and ongoing efforts to honor the relationship between the land and indigenous peoples by visiting the websites of the Delaware Tribe and the Manhattan-based Lenape Center. Listeners in the Americas and Oceania can learn more about the indigenous people of your area at https://native-land.ca/.We would like to thank The Lenape Center for guiding us in creating this living land acknowledgment.

Got my MSB gifts in the mail and you two really went above and beyond. I absolutely LOVE the shirt, what a creative idea. The art and all the other goodies are wonderful. Thank you so much.

There are more similarities with the Zanneck and the Keilas Guilie. Their design is almost the same with two spheres at the base of the big cannon generating energy before being fired. There is also a similarity with the naming scheme with the Contio which were protecting the Keilas Guilie; The original name for the Zanneck (Zan=Cut/Neckcutter/Guillotine) was Zancock.

"We've solved Newtypism" is one of the greatest moments in podcasting ever. But in all seriousness it was a fascinating conversation about a topic that I also spend an inordinate amount of time dwelling on. And it sounds like I really need to see Escaflowne.
