Hayley Williams might be the face of the band, but Taylor York is definitely the heart of the band.

Mewithoutyou is a band, I think that if you listen to one of their songs, you will understand the vibe hehe. They are friends with Paramore. Also think is one of Hayley’s favorite bands. No friend is actually the only song in all of the albums that Hayley does not sing at all.

Self titled next, its the album that released in 2013 and basically was the rebirth of paramore after losing josh and zac hence the album name being paramore. They had issues finding a long term replacement all the way until he eventually rejoined in 2016

I think you guys should react to Paramore live at Austin City Limits. Bonnaroo live is a good alternative too, I know you watched the All I Wanted performance from that one. Honestly jaw-dropping and they do old stuff and new. I think Hayley is the best vocalist and performer of her generation. Also, I'm not sure how much band lore you've gotten but shit's crazy. To summarize they started the band when they were kids (I'll focus only on Hayley, Josh and Zac Farro, Taylor York, and Jeremy), Taylor toured with them on Riot, but didn't become an official member until Brand New Eyes. Josh and Zac left after Brand New Eyes and a lot of the angry songs on the album are actually about Josh/band dynamics. Taylor (now lead guitar) and Jeremy (bass) stuck around for their self-titled album. Jeremy left and tried to sue Hayley and Taylor for writing credits/royalties. Hayley also got divorced at this time and thought she was done with music. Taylor supported her and reconnected with Zac so After-Laughter only has some songs where Zac has writing credits. Taylor was rocking with upbeat, Tame Impala-esque music while Hayley was depressed so After-Laughter was really an amalgamation of the two. Also now Taylor and Hayley are dating (6 years or something) and he's produced one of her solo albums. Josh Farro has made some homophobic statements (and I think racist but I can't recall a specific instance off the top of my head) and Jeremey makes bad trap beats on soundcloud. Their song Monster for the Transformers soundtrack is crazy dig at Josh if you really wanna deep dive, and Taylor did drums and guitar for that one. So yeah, Paramore is Hayley Williams, Taylor York (literal musical genius), and Zac Farro as it stands and will definitely stay that way at this point.

From what I gathered from Genius is that No Friend was a letter Hayley wrote to Aaron Weiss, who is the frontman of her and Taylor York's long time favorite band mewithoutyou. I guess they had some sort of friendship over the years, I just recall the two of them (Hayley and Taylor) wearing mewithoutyou merch and talking about their love for the band in an interview in like 2016. Before reading the Genius Lyrics, I had thought Aaron wrote the letter not Hayley. Either way, someone reached out for a collab and we got Aaron from mewithoutyou reading spoken word poetry on a Paramore album which is poetic in itself because he has been a sort of hero to them and its the outro of idle worship which warns against blindingly idolizing celebrities. So not her ex-husband (Chad Gilbert) thats a different man entirely, who does happen to be in a band as well, but he's much more problematic.

You guys pretty much got the gist of “No Friend”, but I’ll tell you my personal take: I feel like no friend is like a vehicle for the band (specifically Hayley and Taylor) to express all their frustration that has accumulated over the years: losing band mates, wanting to move away from their “old style”, fans criticizing them, the record deal they (Hayley) were locked into, and them just trying to be themselves and perform what feels right. There was a lot of backlash from this album about being too pop-y…some of the older fans felt like it was a betrayal, like the band was selling out, not knowing that behind the scenes Hayley and Taylor were fighting some of their hardest battles. When they started this album, it was just the two of them, just struggling to put something cohesive together. Zac came in during the production of this album, and brought a lot of stability back into their lives, personally and professionally. Aaron Weiss is a trusted friend, and this is his style of music, which Hayley and Taylor love. They tracked this live in the studio, and if you ever get a chance to watch a live performance of it, you can see how cathartic it is for them. That’s why I personally love it, and I’ll defend it with whatever I got! LOL

if you guys like paramore you should listen to “a fever you cant sweat out” by panic at the disco or at least a few songs from it. (forgive me for the long names) i would reccomend “lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking off her clothes” , “but its better if you do” , “theres a good reason these tables….” , and “build god, then well talk.

Hailey did a side project in 2020-2021 called Petals for Armor and FLOWERS for VASES. Both are masterpieces, I think you guys would really like them! There’s a lot in the lyrics to breakdown, and the music is beautiful! Even if you don’t react here, you should listen in your own time 💙
