Jayme McCowen

YAAAAAAAS We need more Chicks! The entire Home album is golden 🥹

girljordan

Goshhhh I love this song

Missy Kuhlenberg

Now Terry, why you callin Kaniyia out like that 😒🤣

tavi 🦀

I’m already sat for the rollercoaster of you on breaking down this one

MM2525

Yes yes yes THANK YOU

Makensie

SAT!! This song is so close to my heart 💙

Jayme McCowen

I hope we get to the point in your Chicks relationship that we get to watch you guys watch ‘Shut Up And Sing’ 🥺 They were so before their time.

Lauryn ❤️‍🔥

And Terry does a YEEHAW within 25 seconds and pisses me off 🤣🤣🤣

Lauren

Can u react to Callum Scott and Whitney Houston i wanna dance with somebody And role model sally when the wine runs out x

Amanda

If you ever have the chance to see them live, take it!

tavi 🦀

Kaniyia didn’t need lyric genius. She broke down a song in 20 seconds that took me 20 years to fully break down lmaoooo

Sierra Rose

Please listen to cold day in July!!! Or really their whole Fly album, you’d love it!

Lauryn ❤️‍🔥

Terry came into this song with so much positive energy just to nearly cry immediately 🤣😭

Sarah H

SIN WAGON NEXT PLEASE!

Catherine

How fast did I click the link when I saw the notification!

Nicole

This is one of their BEST!!!

Jenn Weber

Ya’ll should watch their documentary “Dixie Chicks: Shut Up and Sing”

Nicole

Yall gotta try their version of Stevie nicks’ Landslide!!! SHIVERS

Anna D

Loveeeee the country songs ❤️ You should do Whiskey Lullaby

Mindy

This entire album is incredible

Krystle

Watched this so quick!!! The lore is they said something negative about George Bush, which was taboo for the country industry to be anti-a Republican. This song was their last opus and they didn’t make music for years because they were shunned by country music.

Mel

Listen to album Fly. Cold day in July really shows off Natalie’s pipes! From an OG Chicks fan… and a fan who loved them through the times when not a lot of people did.

✨•Chelsea•✨

I love it but damnnnnn🤣🤣 Yall killing me not running to genius or google or phoning a friend to learn the lore and how socially impactful this song was 😩😩😩😩

Laraine

React to all their albums! I love them all.

mimi

Albums id have to say home and also wide open spaces…

Nicole

Just K nodding,” and what else..” and terry’s teary eye- CHEIF KISS THE CONTENT IM HERE FOR

mimi

Listen to their song top of the world regardless… it’s on home

Erin G

You need to look into the lore of this song! It’s touched on in miss americana but Natalie made a comment about George W Bush and they were absolutely BURNED at the stake, this is their response

Amanda Kane

This song is even more powerful once you know the background. They spoke out against George W Bush and were effectively disowned by Country music, they were boycotted and threatened and went from the top female group in country to pariahs Please please please do a video of you watching their documentary Shut Up And Sing, it's amazing

Nicole

This was after the entire, “ashamed bush is from Texas” thing, and people were literally destroying their cds and shit and they were getting death threats. Classiest clap back ever, JUST SAYING

Jayme McCowen

Wait a minute you guys didn’t read what the song was abouttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!!!!? T AND K !!!

JustKayt

Do you guys remember Taylor Swift talking about what happened to them in Miss Americana? So sad.

Sammi

I am not a country fan bu i have always loved this song even before understanding the very important political backround of it. Its great people are reckognizing what was done to the Chicks was so wrong.

Noreen

One of my favorite songs, ever 💙

Kyli Pierce

This is the one I’ve been waiting for 😍 If you remember Taylor Swift talking in Miss Americana, she said all the studios said “don’t be like the chicks” when in discussion about politics. This song was written because of the backlash they experienced in 2003.

Amy H

Y’all are gonna love Sin Wagon

Amy H

And love Cam also!! They do sound similar!

Lala296

Time for some of the chicks live performances!!

Jessica

Silent House is my favorite song of theirs for personal reasons but Let Him Fly is a very close second. Please react to their albums starting with the first one. It’s so worth it.

Abs

Oh, I love this song and I love them! Y’all should react to their album “Fly!”

kim Casey

Sin Wagon! Please!

Allison Fuller

Y’all should listen to the Taking the Long Way album (which this song comes from). So many good songs.

Christie

Wide Open Spaces!

Elizabeth H.

Taylor references the Chicks in Miss Americana. This song is their clap back to country music ostracizing them for commenting on Pres Bush and the war. I went to their concert in Gville, SC in 2003, the first one since this controversy.

Elizabeth H.

Next do Sin Wagon or Cold Day in July!!!

Cass 🫶🏽

Been waiting for this one and it did not disappoint!! Mmmf 🤍

Abby (Eliot’s version)

This song always kills me because I remember the whole drama surrounding it and the lines “it’s a sad sad story when a mother will teach her daughter that she outta hate a perfect stranger” killllllls me every time because kids don’t grow up knowing hate - it’s taught - and for something as simple as a differing political view destroys me… and the fact that she says “write me a letter saying that I’d better shut up and sing or my life would be over” just shows the level of hate we’ve suffered under for years… I was so proud of them for this song and for not bowing to the ones she supposedly “wronged” and expressing their feelings about the whole stupid debacle

Julia Cotter

Emily and Martie (the other 2 chicks) are sisters and incredibly talented! They put out a couple of albums with their band The Courtyard Hounds. If you haven't heard those albums, you should really check them out!!

Ashlyn

This song will stand the test of time. I can still feel her anger. It’s so good!

Janey Sommer

I've lost my voice from scream singing this, especially the bridge.

Kelly B

if you haven't already you guys really need to look up the story behind that song -- what happened, what she said, and what the backlash / aftermath was. This song was a response to a specific situation at that point in time. It's crazy.

Beth

Oh please please do Sin Wagon by the Chicks

Eileen Miramontez

“Hallelujah” amen sister!!! If yall haven’t seen Miss American, Taylor Swifts documentary she does a good job talking about the reasoning behind this song and how it shaped female artists to “shut up and sing”

Brittany

MMMF!! You have to read why they had so much emotion to this song!! They were the first to be “canceled”

Brittany

Def for their whole album reactions: Wide Open Spaces/Fly/Home

Cass 🫶🏽

This also makes me think you should do Dear Mr. President by pink! Another very powerful song from the same era

Shelly

I’m so glad you found this song! Epic

Melanie

Pulled up to this so quick!! Loved it!!! Do their first two albums, Wide Open Spaces and Fly. But don’t miss Long Time Gone on album three. Great track. Hard to beat this one though!

Kaulds

This is my favorite song of theirs! My scream, crying song in the car!!! ♥️

Toni Marie

Got the email notification and ran here SO fast! This is my all time favorite Chicks song, and one of my all time favorite songs to sing when I have big emotions I need to scream sing! So glad you guys did this one! 🧡

Meg

Y’all would LOVE White Trash Wedding by them it’s so fun

Lively_Ash

It still pisses me off what country music did to them!!!

Melissa H

You guys should watch the documentary Shut Up and Sing.... it's about everything that this song is about!

Rebecca

Their album, Fly. You guys will have so much fun with Sin Wagon!

Jayme McCowen

Cold Day in July is beautiful, you’d love it

J.

Absolutely do Taking the Long Way for the album listen (with this song) but I loved their 2020 reunion album Gaslighter too

Jamie G

YAYAYYAYAYYAYAYYAY! As part of the brigade begging for this, THANK YOU! Also, this song can be summed up as “Standing on their business!” They spoke out against Bush’s invasion of Iraq post 9/11 when The Chicks were (basically) kicked out of country music. 👏👏👏👏👏 they were right too!

Annie moritz

I feel like you guys would like Miranda Lambert too

Ashley S

March March by the Chicks, but watch the video instead of listening to the song on just audio. Pull the lyrics then watch their video. 🥺💔🫶🏼

Melanie 🌹

Thank you so much for this!! 😭 So excited to hear you’ll do an album. My vote is for their album Fly! Sin Wagon is wild. Kaniyia, get your cowgirl hat on for this one. Maybe even some boots. Terry, clear some space for dancing & fainting!

Madi

I never don’t get chills listening to this song!!!! The best solo car karaoke song as well haha

Alexandria

This is what Taylor references in the miss americana documentary when people told her not to be like the chicks!!

Tiffany M.

I feel like they needed to know the back story of this song before reacting to it. It wouldve had an even bigger impact to them

Bison Matt

That Live VH1 Storytellers performance (the image you selected for the video) is extremely captivating, Natalie's voice is impeccable and the emotion is so raw. Definitely worth watching, T & K!

Lauren

If yall don’t do their Landslide cover soon, I’m gonna cry! 😢 lol and their song You Were Mine is incredible as well.

Anna

You guys sound amazing as always

Andree

I’d never heard this song before - really enjoyed the video and song. I’ve only heard the album ‘Fly’ - which is great BTW!

Jessica Hale

I vote for Fly as the album reaction! And Cold Day in July next! 💛

samara💞

i love the chicks 💕 grew up with them being played non stop in my house! this song was a cultural revolution!!!

Hridayinee

Wow this was great 👍

Kelli Bothe

Second to the eras. I’ve seen them twice and they are great live.

Kelli Bothe

Their new album is fire. I would love album reaction for Gaslighter.

Emily B

If there was ever a time you should have looked up the story behind the song….this was it 😅

Katie

Not sure if yall are aware of the context and meaning of the song. The Chicks were “cancelled” years ago when Natalie said on stage that they were ashamed that then President George W Bush was from their home state of Texas. Country music fans lost their minds. They were hated. Albums burned etc. That’s the reference of the letter she got that a stranger wrote to her. May I suggest you both listen to the P!nk song “The One That Got Away”?

Shanbunnii

Please, please, please watch the live performance of this song. So powerful.

Angela J Reeves

Y’all are such solid musicians!! Holy Moses y’all have so much talent & skill.

Bree Woolf

This song is a core memory from my childhood following 9/11 and the ignition of blind hate in our country.

Michelle

Please please watch the doc about the chicks to help understand this song

Skyler Thompson

yay:) i been requesting this, must not have been the only one !

Johanna M

This was my favorite song of them! Now it is I Hope! So good!

Kaia

Love this song. They’ve never backed down since. Highly recommend their music video for March March—don’t just listen to the song, that video always brings me to tears. It’s just as powerful today because we are still fucking marching. I’d love y’all to do all of The Chicks songs, too.

Taylor (not swift)

Did they know the backstory on the song before they listened?

Nicole

WE NEED A BREAK! Gets me every time lmao

Nicole

These MFs INDEED SANGING K

Beth

Please please do sin wagon

Arielle Spracklin

Favorite song beside this one is Sleep At Night. It’s soooo good.

Samantha Johnson

ooooooo i had beeen hoping you guys would do this song!

Dana Ernst

I cried. I have such similar issues with my own mother.

Mandy Knowles

I KNOW RIGHT?!!!! Listen to Home...love these ladies!

Wyrd Designs

So this song happened after the Chicks spoke some political, anti-war comments referring to then President Bush and the U.S. heading to war in Iraq. Country music stations blacklisted them, death threats came in, and they disappeared for a while, this song was their return back. One of their best songs IMO. Taylor Swift was inspired by the Chicks, she even had Natalie join her as a surprise guest on her 1989 tour. You need to hear their team up with Beyonce on Daddy Lessons, and other songs from them like Top of the World, March March (especially with the official music video).

BB Davenport

I vividly remember people literally bulldozing their albums & cds in the streets after what Natalie said. Such extreme bullshit in my opinion. Natalie is such a badass. Love her!

Michelle Curran-Borrego

I think they have some of the best harmonies! I’ve loved the Chicks since their debut album. I vote for “you were mine” or anything on first album. Love yall!

✨Annie✨

The lore behind this song is WILD…especially considering what is happening in the US now. People literally bulldozed, burned, dug graves for their Chicks merch. It was crazy. Just proves that we’ve never truly had freedom of speech.

dharma.george@gmail.com

This was the song that got me to fork over my 💰 for later on. I had to see the whole reaction. This song is an always and forever anthem 🔥

Leah Cropp

This song used to make me cry everytime when it first came it. They are just so good.

V W

Natalie graduated from Berklee College of Music and was recruited by the sisters to replace their former lead singer. She has one of the strongest voices and most gifted ranges all within one word. This was an absolute travesty what happened to them. Undeserving. Country music ate its own.

V W

The symbolism is so rich. Black paint on white clothes=their blemish has ruined them. They were smeared by Natalie. In the scene when they try to tell her to sit down, she refuses. The sisters in white and Natalie schemers them with paint. Bringing in the red like a Scarlett letter, Salem witch trials. Persecuting and killing women unjustly for being evil. Being on a lab table=During The era of Freud and others, women were put on stages in medical schools to show how to treat them for something as simple as hysteria during their menstrual cycles and locked up forever. They showed her backbone which is what got her in trouble. Google women’s medical theatres and Freud.

Amy Evans

It is wild that this was written about Bush. He is tame compared to Trump

Erica Salti

I will never not get chills when I hear this song. I vividly remember when it was released and how much everyone had to say about it. Iconic!

V W

Also, the scene with the backbone. They’re showing her backbone and she’s being punished for it. Just wow to this director and creative team. And, the whole thing is reminiscent of the Freudian/Hermann Rorschach inkblot test regarding the background.

Danielle

The chicks were cancelled by country music and this was their fight back song! This song is so important for them and I wish you got the back story before listening!

Brielle

PLEASE DO TOP OF THE WORLD BY THEM!!!!!!!

Christal Klewein

You should do Martina McBride I’m Gonna Love You Through It 🥹

Kelsey Michele

They were so ahead of their time. Those bad asses!!!!! ❤️ They didn’t deserve what the country music industry did to them. And the Republicans

Tyler Middleton

It’s time for you guys to love Brandi Carlile - The Story

Meghan

This album has a lot of parallels with Reputation. They were cancelled and said eff ewe to everybody and this album is their answer. But also so many love songs. ❤️ Everybody Knows is one of my favorites, and Easy Silence. The top of this album is amazing.

Emma Wakefield

This song gets me every fucking time

geneva marie

Y’all need to see the documentary Shut Up And Sing. It is the backstory to this song, and how Marty and Emily stood by Natalie while she stood ten toes down. Even if you know the general backstory, it’s so intense to see how it all unfolded from their perspective. And I don’t care who you are or what kind of music you like or don’t like, everyone should see it.

Nicole

Should have done live version

KC Dowd

The medical scene is in reference to the lobotomies that they used to give women who had too much to say.
