I wonder what was the name Zhao Ling put on the list. Was it Tingyun's father (if it was him, then just for appearances probably and he would ask Empreror not to accept him), someone else or maybe his own name? He said it had to be someone radical.

I assumed it was Tingyun's father because of his sadmattitude when he told Tingyun that he already submitted the name and nothing could be done to change it. If he chose someone else I would love to see who it is (hopefully I find out in today's episodes lol.

Zhao Ling would not put Tingyun's father's name on the list. In the previous episode, Tingyun's father tried to use filial piety to pressure Zhao Ling into giving him an official position, but Zhao Ling knelt in the rain for four hours to demonstrate his own filial piety, which also meant that he was refusing Tingyun's father's request. When he told Tingyun that the candidate had already been decided and would not be changed, it was not because he didn't want to help the Northwest. Rather, the Emperor needed him to recommend the person the Emperor wanted to appoint. Therefore, Zhao Ling's choice had to align with the Emperor's decision (e.g. a radical). Unless the Emperor changed his mind, Zhao Ling's candidate would not change either.
