awesome reaction as always and so great to be watching season 3 with you!! as you mentioned timeline-wise, at the beginning, the shows seasons always start off relatively soonafter the previous one ended. as for the actual break between seasons coming out - it was about 16 months between each season being released. all seasons released the full six episodes on the release date with the exception of season 3. season 3s first 5 episodes dropped at once and there was a one week delay between the finale (ep 6) being released. as far as the monarchy and government goes - the monarch is the head of state but is relatively ceremonial. the monarchy has no governing power or legislative power and does not take political stances. it is known on the world stage for not taking sides. the current king has been in the position for more than 50 years. i find it interesting that the issue of sexuality is one of the main issues with the series when nowhere else in the world is really as liberal as sweden. it’s been ruled by a democratic / libertarian party with a majority or co-party rule since about the 19th century. in 2019 sweden was named the most LGBTQIA+ friendly country along with portugal and canada. there wouldnt be this brilliant series though without that plot, so it makes sense that lisa ambjorn wrote it the way she did :) cant wait to see more!!

Welcome to YR where these boys never catch a break! The curfew means they can only see each other during school. Wille has to be in his dorm by 7pm and Simon can’t stay over. They can’t talk on the phone or text except within that short one-hour window. So it’s essentially forbidden love all over again! They do get creative though heh 👀 Great reaction as always!!

Wille and Simon can't win for losing. I feel bad for the Queen but her blanking Wilhelm, was a horrible move from a mother. I get she's grieving but she still has a child that needs her.

The school is likely partially funded by the gov as well but allowed to take private donations—however it also required to follow the law and be a “safe” environment in order to stay open so they would be required to have a thorough investigation bc of serious allegations like this

They certainly don’t waste a second in this show. They have a very complex story that they’re trying to tell within six episodes so they come out of the gate swinging

And in general, anything like this would always be heavily investigated. Nowadays nothing is going to get swept under the rug. So, it is a realistic situation. Would not be the same in public schools though. Bullying is a real problem here and it seems the school officials and the government have a hard time daring to fully invest in preventing that.

In many ways the gay story is still not as important of a story line as the classism, bullying, born-with-privilege, racism. etc are. The only homophobic person really is Kristina The Queen herself, while she also got over it already in S2. And you are correct, Sweden has been the gay mecca in the Nordics in the past decades, but nowadays all the Nordic countries are very liberal and being queer is nothing that big of a deal. The most difficult time currently have trans and non-binaries. That's still pretty novel and new even in here. But gay or lesbian is something that most do not even pay attention to anymore.

The time between the jubileum and this new season E1 would be about 2-3 weeks maybe. You remember the jubileum in sunny spring weather. In E1 there was snow again. That is a real Nordic phenomenon. We often have volatile weather in the spring time. It can already look like summer, yet still we get a new snow fall. It's because even with sunny spring conditions, it is still fairly cold and temperature can go down below the freezing point up until May, especially in the nights.

thanks for the replies and for educating me. obviously, i dont have local knowledge or first-hand knowledge.. just from what ive read and experienced. i definitely agree about the sexuality plot point - but i think it is amplified in the story by the reaction which comes from the video release. obviously, willes mum is a lot to blame for that reaction, but there is a lot of online bullying regarding that fact which i guess makes it seem worse than it is also. 😀

Yes, true. Online bullying is for sure nasty and homophobic and maybe I have disregarded it too much. But I am happy that there is no issues with their classmates or the class III boys. And that kind of nicely reflects how especially younger generations already operate.

August didn't leak the story about hazing, a former student did. The Queen hasn't had time to properly mourn Eric's death, but she is a crappy mother to Willem. I do love how Simone's mom laid down the law after finding out about the drugs!
