Really loved this movie and how it makes you think it's gonna be very cliche; but truly does things different!

ParaNorman Full Movie Reaction!

I absolutely love this movie! I love the humor, the horror tropes and nods and once you get to the twist of who the witch is it changes it's tone and is extremely dark. Executing a little girl was not what I was expecting to happen when I first saw the film. And the fact the town was unknowingly profiting off of it was quite disturbing. I love the musical score, it's very underrated and doesn't get enough credit. I also really like when the zombies are finally going to rest, none of them look happy or even relieved or at peace, they still are shameful for what they did and probably always will be. Good job too for picking up that Norman and Aggie look alike because I'm pretty sure they are supposed to be related, they never say they are but her last name is Prenderghast, which is his mother's maiden name. I thought it was clever for them to be connected and showed more why Norman was able to talk to her. The callback to Norman saying the same thing with what his mother told him in the car was so good but also there was a callback from the Grandma too in the very beginning. She complains about why the zombies in his horror movie can't sit down and talk it out and that's exactly what he does to end the curse. I know I might get some flake for this but I prefer this over Coraline. Now don't get me wrong, I love Coraline but I just enjoy this one more. And a big reason for that being I like Norman as a character more then Coraline, I really enjoy his character a lot. The only thing that bothers me and it's not the actual movie but it's in the subtitles. It says for his ringtone that it is The Friday Of The 13th when it's clearly Halloween, whoever did that messed up, lol.

#1 hater, year two of the hater campaign continues. An appropriate movie, because I'm haunted by these two pieces of Octokrool.

This movie made me feel really festive and hyped up for Halloween to come around the corner. Loved it too

This movie is a favorite for me, I'm really glad you liked it and I enjoyed your reaction a lot. Being almost silent through the final confrontation scene with Aggie is so fair, it's one of my favorite scenes of all time, I always put down whatever I'm doing to pay full attention when it comes on. The music, haunting and tragic rather than dramatic and bombastic, the unique electric design of Aggie's ghost, the gorgeous animation and unique use of the set and Aggie's magic to break it apart and make it all float, and the fantastic storytelling, it's just a work of art. I agree with the above commentor, as much as I love Coraline, I think this one just barely beats it out.

Also, this was the first kids' movie I ever saw that had an openly gay character (and was probably one of the early ones to do so), so that reveal at the end was extra shocking, and welcome. :D

Thank you, I feel like most people say Coraline and it's nice to know that I'm not alone on it, lol. But a fun fact I just found out recently, the bathroom scene where Mr. Prenderghast appears out of the toilet took over a year to animate and it was done by just one animator too. That's just crazy to me and makes me love the film even more!
