Hello hellooo everyone, and welcome back to Targa Florio!

holy dear mother of all gods, it has been quite a few chaotic months. Some are good chaos, some are brow raising chaos lol.

The issue with my teeth is still not done, I'm still going back and forth to the dentist, alternating between the Endodontist and surgeon. Maybe this will still goes on until the end of the year. maybe. But I can eat, and that's a good thing! although I would honestly say, it's not very comfortable yet. But I'm optimistic it will get better and better!

Anyway, I hope you guys are in good health and doing great!

Today, we got an update of the track, and a special addition that made the track feels more alive!

All credits goes to Beni for this update. Beni came out with the idea of adding ambient sound and environment, and even I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it the first time.

So this ambient sound and environment is adding various sounds and even insects flying about. And for me, it came so naturally that when I turned it off, it feels strange as if the world suddenly became silent. I hope you guys find it exciting too!

Here are some feature of the new ambient sound addition:

There's a setup app in the track's folder to adjust the sound level and the amount of visible insects, or to turn them off completely.

the sounds depend on the tone of day and season as well as temperature and weather. So on a cold winter day you won't hear many insects but on a hot summer day they'll go crazy. Some sounds will only occur at night.

the visible insects also depend on those factors.

both also occur more in certain locations.

fully detailed sounds are only implemented until Caltavuturo junction, the rest will follow.

I'd recommend checking out Beni's Patreon page, as he got his own scanned track project:

https://www.patreon.com/cw/Beni_tracks_and_cars

oh and by the way, this updated version now features the entire track, with the full circuit layout combining the old version and the scanned part.

this is temporary of course, and we are going to update it each time we got new scanned sections ready.

And speaking of new sections, we do have the sections from Cerda Station to the beginning of the previous scanned parts. it's not completely ready yet, there are some details and preparation before we can merge it, but it is completely drivable.

And I must admit, working on this section was insanely difficult. It took waayy longer that I ever thought it would be. there are many days where I just stare at my monitor racking my brain no how to get this done, and there are a plenty of hours down the drain because I have to scrap it and start over.

But effort and perseverance paid off I guess. I came out with a good method that actually working great. and this method significantly speed up the process and lift the heavy work out of my hands. Now, aside from preparing this section to be merged, I already started preparing for the next section.

Here is the Targa Florio (combined) version 0.3.8 with ambient sound app

and if you're interested to try, here is the targa florio scanned test version (from Cerda station).

Well that's it for today. I hope you enjoy your week! For F1 fans out there, tomorrow is the Hungarian GP, I hope we got a good race!

Stay safe, stay healthy, work out regularly, drink enough water, and don't forget to go out and touch grass once in a while!

As always, thank you so much for your support and encouragement.

Cheers!

Wow Abulz what a difference I see now all over the track and in the surface texture and undulations and rises and falls and now we've also got flies to irritate us too ;) this is utterly fantastic. It has never looked or felt so good and realistic or sounded like this. It really has taken a huge step forward in quality. thank you. Time to get the headset out, oh boy have I been waiting for this. :D

Thank you so much for your effort on this monumental project, always super exciting to see a new update! Just finished a lap, and it amazes me every time how much quality and detail there is, truly the absolute best track mod and a real joy to drive. I only wish the ai was a bit more competent. Can definitely understand that they're still low priority while the track is being developed, I might try some ai hints to see if that'll help them out a bit. As an example, the race just now with full grid, only 2 ai made it to the finish line. All others got stuck in the pits.

It is way too hot to touch grass right now so this is most welcome. =) Glad to hear your health is improving and I hope it continues to do so!

Thanks so much for putting so much effort into this passion project. We are so lucky to have creators like you that continue to develop mods for this sim that are so far beyond anything Kunos ever imagined AC could be. So much gratitude my friend 🙏 hope your teeth situation gets better as well

What a surprise! Good to see you back! I've already alternated the 'bug numbers', and realized that it's far more into this. Took some classic traffic events from pits up round Cerda and beyond to the hairpin above, letting my 11yo girl cruise around in my flexible seat at late evening and nights, having free cam 3D pans, buzzing mosquitoes at the beginning were replaced by birdsong, disco music, troubadour music, folk songs, barking dogs, rooster crowing, meowing cats, exotic bird sounds and even more insect sounds by increasing the values for volume and density by a factor of 3-5. This is what I dreamt of when I once set sounds for a Gran Premio di Napoli around the streets, but only with soundtracks for my AC recording. This opens up so much more atmosphere on the truly classic tracks. It should be a 4.* version. Huge kudos!

On the latest CSP (0.3.0-preview445) it crashes after a few seconds and I get a quite generic error. I've tried turning off all the extras, but it still won't work.

You and Beni have reset the bar for what can be done in Assetto Corsa or any other driving sim. Spectacular, physics, quality of graphics, this is an amazing upgrade to what was already one of the best drives available. Thank you, get healthy and both of you keep up the amazing work.

Michael Griffiths

I hadn't seen the state of the project for a year or more, maybe two? I was recently astonished trying last version in VR with new Moza kit. Outstanding work, quite amazing. Can't wait to try this latest version. Best of luck with your health!

Thank you so much, and God bless you! Your Targa Forio project has a place in my heart. It's my "impossible dream" where everything cumulates that I love about sim racing.

Anybody got any cameras for this?

Todd Feeney

I dig it. The scanned sections of the track are definitely different than the previous version. Can't wait to drive the whole track like that. keep up the great work, and I'm happy you're feeling better!

You guys are amazing! Wishing you the best in health and life!

Hi Abulzz, hope you are doing fine, hope you will get well soon. Downloaded the two new versions today and tested them. The test version from Cerda station works fine. Very good feedback from the track. Like it! The version 0.38 looks really great to me. But it seems to generate somm graphical problems on my computer. Would it be of help sending you the crash report? If so, where to send it? Keep care on you and your health! Best wishes Gerald

This is such an amazing update! The whole track is reworked and so much better! It's almost on par with Sergio Loro's and Fat-Alfie's tracks in terms of beauty and refinement, while being about ten or even tenty times longer than most of their tracks.
