THE BIG REVEAL! The first of my JRPG Retrospectives is none other than the original Shin Megami Tensei! This retrospective not only covers the game in depth, but also its development history, various mythological and political inspirations, and ultimately what legacy it left behind. I really hope you guys like this one. It's one of the few major passion projects I have coming up, and will be the first of what will be a much more consistent form of content on the channel going forward. You guys will be getting this video in early access, and here in a few days before the video gets released for everyone else, you'll also be getting a shorter Bonus video, which is detailed in the video itself, so look out for that! (small spoiler, it's a review of an OVA)

Yess!!! I've been getting into SMT lately so was very much looking forward to this 👀

Fujoshi-Cake

I don't really know much about this series nor do I really play anything like this, so I don't have much commentary on it but I like the Dungeon Crawl aesthetic

Fujoshi-Cake

I love JRPGs but I can barely beat Earthbound

Fujoshi-Cake

Everyone always underestimates GBA sound tracks but shovelware like Tom & Jerry & the Magic Ring have a sound track that's pure fire

Fujoshi-Cake

Well since you asked, Earthbound

@ 01:27 : Dylan confirms he is into Party-maxing... You talk a bit about Mishima in here, if you have not I very highly recommend Paul Schrader's Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters. And holy dedication Knight Owlman with the purchasing the comic. Thank you for your dedication and service. Glad to see my monthly pledge to you in action. -I assume the more expensive video is you finally bought all the Spyro and Crash Bandicoot manga This is a little nostlagic for me, learned about this series before Person 3 via a friend who learned of it via Hardcore Gaming 101 article on it (I believe HG101 had theirs up). So played through fan translations of the Super Famicom Nintendo of 1, 2, and IF. I fondest memories is getting sucked into the feel and lore of them and also quickly realizing I was very bad at them. Years later I had another friend who was super into this new game PERSONA 3 (never heard of 1 or 2) and when he loaned it to me was suprised to learn it was a spin-off of SMT. I played a little of 3 and none of 4. Suppose I gotta whip out my VHS of TOKYO REVELATIONS now... -bonus Megami anime thought: The anime for the original novel/game DIGITAL DEVIL SAGA is one of the worst things I have ever watched. Future games I'd like to see you cover: The Blue's Clues point and click PC games and Batman: Revenge of the Joker look I need to think about it, give me time

BlackGhost611

I LOVE SMT, I remember religiously playing III, IV and Strange Journey. Did you ever play Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army?

Dylan The Knight Owl

No I actually havent played Raidou yet but its one my "too play soon" list lol.

BlackGhost611

You would absolutely love it. Raidou is badass.

Nitesco

This was very good. Looking forward to seeing you cover more SMT games in this fashion, or just more extensive looks at games.

Dylan The Knight Owl

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I'll say now that there is another very big video game retrospective coming up very soon that I worked on at the same time as this video that will be coming out very soon, so you'll get your wish soon lol.
