UBoom X - real life usage (Patreon)

I took the UBoom X to the beach to test battery life at maximum volume. Unfortunately when I started it only showed 85% so obviously I haven’t fully charged it before.

Nevertheless I let it play my Opolopo playlist at maximum volume with outdoor mode which is the loudest mode for 1 hour then I switched to BOOM xxX mode which is nearly as loud but with more bass, although it can distort a bit more than outdoor. I noticed that the speaker became slightly softer after a while, turning it off and on again got the maximum volume back. Then the speaker turned off after 2:30h for the first time. When I turned it on again battery showed 45% so it must be some thermal protection circuit maybe as it’s really hot in Italy right now. It turned off again after some minutes so I reduced volume 2 steps directly at the speaker (or 1 step at the phone) and it continued to play for another 1:15 and finally turned off with battery showing 5%. I could still turn the speaker on and use it at lower levels, but altogether I got 3:45h of play time at maximum or close to maximum volume with either outdoor or BOOM xxX modes which are both much louder and bassier than the default modes from Earfun. But I will need to do another test with the battery fully charged to 100%.

Still I think it’s quite a usable value and I can imagine it can play for around 4:30h when fully charged.
