It’s the first time I have the chance to try out the B&W Zeppelin at home. I remember it since the Apple dock version nearly 20 years ago and always tried it in some stores or at Hi-fi expos but was never impressed already back then. I don’t even know which generation this is now, it’s not the Pro version though.

Funnily Bluetooth is buggy, output is very compressed when streamed over Bluetooth, I will shoot a quick demo video the next days before returning it.

Anyhow I did some recordings already and for this purpose I searched for a new location at home where I can record speakers and get consistent results as I am planning to start a new kind of speaker database which you will find on Joy’s channel in future. I tried various positions at home to achieve a sound which would be somehow convincing. It’s shocking how different the captured sound resulted despite same distance to the speakers and same height etc.

I found this position to give me the best results, it sounds as if the speakers were standing exactly in front of me, I get some peak at 44hz at this position but I compensate for this afterwards besides this lower boost helps to bring out the lower bass of the speakers in case they have some response here, other positions rather swallowed that range.

Of course I compared it to the UBoom X immediately and I was surprised that it didn’t suck against it… I mean the B&W is some audiophile 800$ speaker. So stay tuned for my upcoming posts…

Hello Oluv, Do you have any plans to try out the Tribit StormBox Lava? Its competitor would be the Soundcore Boom 2. I know you have the Boom 2, and I also have it, so I’m familiar with how it sounds with your settings. But the Lava would be really interesting to compare—to see if it’s even worth considering. It seems like Tribit ended the era of decent-sounding speakers with the Blast. 🙂

Oooo interesting. Sonus Faber Omnia next? 😉

I have contacted Tribit, but no answer so far. But after the Blast 2 I cannot imagine they managed something decent. The Boom 2 will be very hard to beat, it’s without competition in this class.

Yes I want to cover some more sophisticated speakers next, so I am open for any suggestions.

Musisz posłuchać Devialet Mania i AudioPro C20. To dwa najciekawsze głośniki Multiroom ( WiFi ) jakie słyszałem.

C20 gra podobnie do Marshall Woburn 3 i Denon Home 350. Ale przez drewnianą obudowę niskie tony brzmią najlepiej. Bardzo czysto i faktycznie czuć po pokoju drżące 30Hz a nawet 29H

When Brane X ? 👀 I got mine at the end of last year and was surprised by the sound quality and sub-bass it delivers. It's not perfect, but compared to the competition, it delivers what it promises. I hope to see your review soon.
