In this episode we are going to listen to the go+play 3 again, as it’s still claimed to be the best sounding portable speaker by many.
The plan is to request a new custom firmware updated to the most recent fixes from Earfun and readjusting some of my settings to make the UBoom X sound even better. I got the OK from Earfun and want to fix some possible issues that many may have discovered with the UBoom X, I want to even out the frequency response and readjust the volume curve for high levels a bit better.
I got the go+play 3 again to check how much it could be used as base for further teaks and I will be getting the VIFA Cooenhagen 2.0 next week from one of my friends and am curious to hear that one again.
I have put the UBoom X against most speakers I could find and I haven’t found any that would sound more convincing to my ear. Maybe I can improve some aspects even more. In the end it’s in the smallest details which define if the sound is good or bad.
If you have some ideas for further improvement, please let me know. Unfortunately I won’t be able to add any new settings, it would be too complicated according to Earfun, but I can tweak the existing ones.
PS: the recording is softer than usual to avoid clipping when I turn both up to maximum volume. Increase volume around 6dB to get the usual level.
