Despite all the praise I had noticed about the Middleton II I had quite high expectations for this speaker, but it’s rather a mixed bag with nicely deep bass but lacking any dynamics and a weirdly honky hollow sound signature. The omnidirectional approach is nice as is direct bass and treble control that adjusts the frequency ranges in a very tasteful matter, but overall I’ll rather pass on this…

Hey Oluv, if you could pick any bluetooth speaker for sound quality alone regardless of price which would you go for? Also assuming that you could make at least average accuracy of EQ for it as well.

Depends for which purpose, how small or big etc. In the smallest class I still think the Stormbox Micro 2 is classleading, otherwise the Charge 6 can sound really impressive althoug mono. There are no small speakers anymore that take sound seriously like the Denon Envaya, VIFA, etc years back. Nowadays it seems to be just bassy boombox type of speakers that flood the market.

Yeah, I had an Envaya until I got the Uboom L which I preferred though hadn't tried to EQ the Envaya ever. Does anything middle sized like the Uboom X come to mind that would have meaningfully better hardware and thus potential or can the Uboom X still match them from that perspective? I have two of them and just was wondering if there's a specific model worth trying out of curiosity.

Actually I don’t know, I tried most of them and they were all not that special. Maybe the new Teufel Motiv XL could be nice, I haven’t heard it though. But it’s 800€ and more than 12kg

Ok, good to know, thanks!👍

Have you tried adjusting the eq with the Marshall app? I got a more pleasing signature out of it. I slightly lowered the 160hz, and 1khz but increased the 400/2.5/6.25 band. Would love to know your favorite eq setting with the app.

I didn’t have the app installed but I will try playing around with it a bit
