With all the awards this headphone is getting everywhere, there must be lots of money involved to promote it because B&W’s „Truesound” is truly horrible.

Interestingly from my recording I always perceive the B&W to play from rather below while the Anker plays more elevated.

Stay away from this scam!

Wow so much incredible details!! Congratulations B&W for this best sound experience in the world we could ever imagine! 🤣

You basically cannot improve it more, maybe if soundcore released a newer version of q30 (same drivers etc) with the "parametric" eq you get on their speakers, then i think it could have been really great

It's really terrible and I still can't belive how everyone on the internet always says that sound is completely subjective... to me, sound is a similar to picture quality on displays for example, you have calibration tools which bring the picture as close as possible to professional mastering monitors which "created" all the content so that you don't remove any detail in shadows or highlights except that sound department is somehow lacking this refrence

Typical overpriced tin can headphones from the current year... I am still using my tuned E-mu Teaks as my main set, and love them.

Not surprising, their speakers are shit too - overly bright, which some people believe is extra detail and definition . It’s a trick I’ve see with some Chi-Fi IEMs too.

This was VERY helpfull. Dzienkuje :)

It seems like there's only so much what can manufacturers do with headphones (sound wise): Distortion of the driver. Including THD, ringing, high SPL compression, comb filtering caused by the geometry of the inner can which is massively altered by different ears and that's it. In the digital era of active headphones, tuning is rather EQ thing.. it should be solved like 10 years ago with just bass and treble sliders for fine tuning or just mild loudness correction.

It’s subjective to such a degree that your ears definitely hear something different than mine but in the end what sounds neutral to me sounds also neutral to you, just different. The problem is that headphones simply do not sound correct. None of them, all color the sound to some degree and if speakers produced a sound like this B&W here, nobody would buy them. But apparently with headphones it’s different, people seem to like the most extreme colorations like those Austrian Audio crap which was just completely off.

oluvsgadgets

It’s not worth it due to sample variation and bad quality overall.

I don’t know what the problem actually is, but I simply think it’s too overresearched with too much papers being published with preference ratings etc and too much focusing on HATs without actually any listening, otherwise I cannot explain how such sounding headphones can even reach the market.

From big names like b&w I feel like it's just marketing concentring on the build quality you can see and touch. It's pretty clear to me, that there are only single digit percentage of people that can really say if there's something wrong with the sound.. on the other hand design and the build quality can and will judge everyone.

DominikReviews

true, mine on your EQ settings just sound muddy

Please have a go of the MOONDROP Space Travel 2 Ultras. For their cheap price, I would love your opinion and I believe you can now adjust the EQ in IOS and send to the device.

I can definitely hear a very sharp peak in the PX7 S3's in some demo tracks here, it's actually very fatiguing!

the closest thing I've gotten to the q30 was the Nothing Headphone (a) with Nothing App PEQ + Wavelet. believe it or not, this beats airpods max 2 and Sony XM6 easily. I tried the same with Nothing Headphone 1 and CMF Headphones too but I don't quite get there. the only thing that's lacking is just a little bit of treble definition that similar to nagging on the last 5%

Richard

it's an entertainment mafia. they will sell headphones based on economic boom, not pride in finesse. just like JBL seems to Sidegrade most of the time on their portable speaker releases. While with minirigs, they iterate profoundly after each version.
