Trying both HD800S and HD58X with my most recent neutral EQs side by side. They should basically sound the same or at least very similar. Let's hear if we can discern some other differences between both regarding sound stage, resolution etc...

I may still tweak my compensation for capturing headphones a bit in future as I have the impression as if there could still be some slight issues, nevertheless I think the sound of the headphones here is represented pretty well especially relatively to each other.

You definitely look cooler with hd800s, and that mostly it...

HD58X is more precise one and overall sounds better a bit, more accurate, smoother, but hd800s has broader soundstage and sounds almost as good as hd58x so maybe for regular listening sessions i would pick hd800s

you can easily hear the difference at 15:20

they sound almost same, but HD58X sounds a bit better, more smooth and natural and enjoyable.

They're pretty similar, maby the 58x is slightly better overall and I actually think that sound stage is more realistic on that one as well. Also the difference between EQ versions on the 800s is not as small as I expected, latest one is clearly the best. I'm soo excited for your own headphone tho, really hoping for success because I really don't want a wired headphone...

Overall the HD58X sounds a bit more natural and more enjoyable to me on most tracks. To me the only advantages of HD800S is the wide effect on cymbals and percussive elements (15:46 is the best example), and maybe the bass sounds a tad firmer. As you say at the end, HD800S has something that bothers me in the treble, it sounds more sparkly while the HD58X sounds 'darker' in a good way. On the HD800S i really enjoy the In-room target more than Neutral. Occasionnally (11:36, 19:24) i percieve a slight 'coarse'/breathy character on vocals with HD58X, but i think it comes more from the original recordings and headphone itself than your target. For the nature sounds recordings, at 7:38 the HD800S captured sound still doesn't sound quite like the original recording to me. With HD800S it's like there's white noise added on top of the recording. But nature samples still sound much much more realistic with your target than without EQ. In any case, both headphones sound significantly better with your target, especially the HD800S i think the gain with your target is huge compared to no EQ. (Listening on HD600, HD545 Reference and HD58X) P.S : can you share the title of the songs at 13:54 and at 15:19 ?

What program or software do you use to EQ them? I have got the HD6XX and would like to play with EQ as well, just don't know how to do that… Thanks!
