In this video I wanted to demonstrate the 4th sound mode of the NH2n: "party room" which wasn't finished yet. You can hear it compared to the other modes and also some other headphones which are all rather at the bassheavy side.

Sorry that I couldn't move much in this video, but the entire recording is live and any movement would result in some subsonic rumble being captured through my microphones. There is some slight clipping during various parts of the video especially when I touch the headphone etc, so please apologize for this.

Unlike mentioned in the video, I had spent some further time and managed to improve all modes even more. Interestingly also all other units improved with my recent settings. Apparently the closer I manage get to the target with my tuning unit, this also makes all others better to some degree although they deviate in different areas. My hope is that any improvement I still manage will also be an improvement for you.

The final sound should be even smoother than demonstrated here with better mids and nicer treble, I readjusted the bass for the living room mode to align better with how the speakers sound in my room and I added more kick to the party room mode.

Starting with studio all modes incrementally boost bass or treble to a different degree, listening lounge just adds some bass boost below 55hz and some treble boost above 8khz, living room already boosts below 150hz, but has no treble boost or other changes compared to studio. Living room will be the default mode, as this is closest to how neutral speakers usually sound in a room, but if you really want to hear the pure recording, you should of course switch to studio, also to listen to my own recordings, otherwise they won't sound correct with the other modes. Party room mode is based on Living room but with increased bass below 100hz and slightly reduced above 100hz. There is also more treble boost than Listening Lounge already starting at 6khz.

I tried to refine my settings where I could including finding the perfect values for the treble boost, which results in a very natural and organic sound. You probably noticed that ANC and transparency do not change the sound much apart of the bass, I still haven't figured out why it sounds different, as measurement wise I tried to match it as good as possible, so I am not sure if I can fix this even more and bring it closer to the standard mode.

The only thing missing right now are the voice prompts, which I will try to record during the next days. As soon as I get the final firmware, I will prepare one of my sample units to be sent out to you. Hartyewh suggested to send me some of his headphones, in return he will be the first one having the chance to hear a NH2n unit in real life. I am considering sending out the worst sample I have, in case you still like it, you can be sure that if you order one it should be even better than this. I hope Hartyewh will like it and will share his impressions with us. Then I will ask him to forward the sample to the next test listener. Every volunteer will just need to send the current owner the required shipping costs. Please keep in mind that the current samples I own do not support audio through line-in or USB yet .This will work for the final units of course. Right now you can just use the headphone over Bluetooth.

Phenomenal work, Oluv!

Hi Oluv, I like option 3 because it doesn't tire my ears and has a balance that doesn't lose subtlety or enhance the sound. Thanks.
