I would like to show you the effect of the "AI sound boost" which is included within the Xtreme, and sometimes seems to rather do some harm to the music.

I also tried to create an EQ which should make the Xtreme 5 sound closer to the VIFA Helsinki with its "boosted" tuning. I think the result is quite convincing and should work well for moderate levels. The Xtreme 5 has some hole in the mid-upper bass, which cannot be quite corrected with the built-in EQ, therefore you will never get it quite "neutral" in the bass region, but I think it still sounds quite decent.

Here my EQ settings resembling the Helsinki to some degree, let me know how this works for you:

I also noticed that smart eq working in some tracks, it often sounds horrible

In my opinion its the AI shit what also makes charge 6 and flip 7 distorted

Also the Go 5 has that problem, I think they screwed up the mono downmix in the DSP

did you try some particular songs at extreme 5, where charge 6 distorted? I am really curious about it. Sometimes the distortion is unbearable at charge 6, I turn on mono on Spotify or from iOS settings.

yesterday, i drank a few beer and listened to the Xtreme 5. When on one track i noticed that suddenly in the middle of the song, the sound changed. The mids switched completly. I thought, ok enough beers for tonight and went to bed. Now i know, i was not wrong, its the AI, which changed the sound. I guess we will get changes in AI behavior with upcomming firmware updates. Got the GG version. Ordered directly from JBL. They ship it from the netherlands (harman kardon).

I don't like this AI stuff at all although Xtreme 5 is indeed nice... On the other hand Helsinki still seems to remove an extra layer of "curtain" and reveals more of the music, the reason for such a great sound from the Helsinki is that amazing hardware in combination with great tuning - their push-push woofer design is amazing and incredibly thin, those full range Vifa drivers are not only very high quality with smooth dispersion and response but also have their own little enclosures which makes them very precise sounding, this also makes the stereo effect decently noticeable because most of the response is rendered in stereo unlike on the xtreme 5. I also think that this thick Kvadrat textile cover on Vifa speakers smoothens the response even more... smart design on Helsinki and Oslo because they're using 4/6 sides of the speakers to put the drivers on, every other company slaps some drivers on the front, puts passive radiators on the sides and completely forgets that the back side for example can also be used for drivers (woofer, passive radiators etc)

I still like the vifa more, it just sounds better to me. Can't explain why. Just more sweet to me

I also noticed it changing the mids which made it sound worse, I wish there was a way to prevent this. I’ve even considered returning it, but I really do love this speaker and I want to keep it. Squad GG Version
