Minirigs are great speakers if you add the Minirig sub, but already a single Minirig costs around 200€. Some would be willing to pay 60-70€ for the sEARius. Honestly I’d rather abandon this project completely than selling myself for that cheap. Let’s hear how both speakers compare under the same conditions.

it's amazing how striking the first notes are on the searious. a 130-160€ pricetag would be justified, if it comes with no extra whistles and guarantees maybe. although I'm a cheapskate so I can't talk to much about pricing anyways. it's a lifetime purchase anyway.. we won't see another speaker like it for a long time is what I feel

Mika Eel

Thanks. Great speaker! Did you got around to test the battery playtime yet? Greetings

The sEARious sound, in my opinion, a fair bit better than the MR4 - you have done a really great job with it. The only issue I have noticed, is that despite having an emphasis on deep bass, sometimes the bass seems to bleed into the midrange, making it sound a bit less transparent. Maybe it's just my headphones, and it doesn't do this in real life?

Luka Bošnjak

Difference between sEARius and Minirig is similar to the difference between sEARius and Helsinki, just that in this case they're actually in the same size class although sEARius really does have that physics defying effect around half volume. Let's see those new passive radiators and 2 two properly working units in stereo, I feel like at normal volumes Minirig 2.1 and sEARius 2.0 could be really similar. Can you also do a comparison with Minirigs and Helsinki when you find time?

OP1M.DR3M

This was a useful comparison. The Minirig sounds rather anemic next to the sEARius, and yeah, kinda boxy at times.. strained in the bass. $130-$160 is in the right range for me. I'd be happy to pay $130 :) I didn't realize Flip 7 was only $90.. Earlier you mentioned the sEARius would cost the same as a Charge 6 so I thought it'd be $200. At that price, I'd have second thoughts, especially since I want 2. I mentioned some kind of boundary compensation settings and you already said you feel it doesn't really need it. But after having different speakers in different locations, and also different listening positions... I feel like just some kind of basic bass adjustment would be really useful for me. I just moved into a new space and it's small. On top of that I have to have speakers pretty much slammed against the front wall, and I have to sit slammed against the back wall. The bass on my Uboom X is a bit much here, even in Studio mode. Even my Soundcore Motion+ is too boomy, but being able to dial that 80hz slider down a bunch on the EQ helps tremendously. It feels like some kind of a boundary compensation slider.

Richard

the final sound will still be revealed. he has to toy around with passive radiator first. since i was experiencing it first hand, i can tell you that there is no bleed into the mids.

Richard

honestly look into the android app Enhanced EQ. you won't miss a single thing in there. u can even tame your uboom X with that. you can even do a microphone measurement with https://www.roomeqwizard.com/ and then cast that profile into Enhanced EQ for room corrected bass. now how great is that? you don't need to wait for anybody.

OP1M.DR3M

Yeah I know there are many solutions via apps but it'd be nice to have it native to the speaker.

Richard

only iLouds MTM series does this for the cheap and still requires an additional microphone for the measurement. there will never be an inbuilt solution without a secondary manual microphone instruction.

OP1M.DR3M

I don't mean full-on room correction. I mean a much more crude basic bass adjustment. Like you know how studio monitors often have basic boundary compensation toggle switches on the back? Something effectively like that..

Richard

these boundary compensation toggles are way to imprecise because they don't accomodate for wallmaterial being used and typically concrete wall, brickwall and paperwall can alter the bass alot. i never had a good result with these and would always prefer a room measurement over that. to put it simple, it's a waste of effort in my experience from the builders. hence why iLoud created a Micro Monitors Pro version, because they know it's actually usable and superior to anything. https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/iloudmmpro/?pkey=iloud-mm-pro-black-pair also it probably takes less time to find the correct distance from the walls by placing the speaker to your listening position, playing some bass music and crouching around the room to find the sweetspot, rather than figuring out 2-3 crude bass adjustment settings. this is a big benefit for mobile speakers.

Richard

the videos tend to pick up the roommodes and highs because of the nature of hrtf recordings... it will be much smoother in person. i owned the jbl flip 6 gg which was my benchmark before the uBoom L, and the searious are a league of its own already. we compared them together. the uBoom L sounds boxy in comparison but have a smoother edge to the jbl flip 6 GG which have an unfixable trebble-spike issue which sounds more open/3D, but nasal.. it's so funny... the searious is clearly above that and more.

OP1M.DR3M

In my current space, I have to have the speakers slammed against the front wall as I sit slammed against the back wall.. All I'm saying is I want a simple bass slider adjustment haha. But then that'd probably require Oluv to create an app.. or additional bass level settings.. maybe it's too much complication or not worth it. Just wanted to give my feedback

Richard

at this point, you can just ask Claude AI very soon to do basic apps for every device i guess, so you will never be reliant on a company app when it comes to sound signature. but i get what you mean.

OP1M.DR3M

Maybe I can ask Claude to make an app that allows me to access the firmware of the speaker to then create a native app for it so I can adjust the bass and have it keep the settings even when it's not connected to my phone haha

Richard

good idea. in the future this might be possible but it would require a certain software leak I suspect

Dolmen

€130-€160 is a good price, that was actually what I had in mind. Will I be able to use 2 of these in lossless stereo via USB as my main desktop speakers? Is the speaker trying to constantly get charged when already at 100% or does it stop charging when 100%? I don't know that much about this topic when it comes to devices that have batteries.

Thomas Wesolowski

I also think $130–160 is a fair price. I hope Oluv gets a good piece of the cake. I use an iLoud Sub with room correction, and being able to adjust the sound to match your room is a real game changer. My setup is a Universal Audio Volt 176 USB audio interface connected to the iLoud Sub via XLR, which is then connected to the Adam Audio D3V speakers via XLR. This way, the EQ in the sub can also correct the satellites, in this case the D3Vs. With a 7-point room measurement using the iLoud XLR mic and the iLoud software, you can tame room resonances and even adjust the result to your personal taste. It's also possible to set a "house curve" if, for example, you prefer a bit more bass. It's such a versatile tool.

I would pay $200-300 for a single stereo sEARius
