This is an EqualizerAPO profile for the HD600 based on an impulse response of the original HD600 Sonarworks profile.

I use this EQ with my HD600 for all my monitoring.

I know you don't use 650/6XX for monitoring but I would love to see your EQ profile for one of those as well!

What about hardware filters? Passive circuits that modify sound without any software or EQ?

oluvsgadgets

I think there are better experts who build such filters

yossibm

Thanks! certainly makes them less "veiled"

KlarkKentThe3rd

Those experts could be making hundreds of extra dollars a month by making such passive hardware filters for the HD560.

Am I the only one that finds HD600 to be an extremely bad headphone, especially for the price?

Eli Belous

I think that Hifiman Deva sounds amazing and it's about the same price.

Eli Belous

You can cut those peaks if you want, but Deva sounds lively and fun and HD600 sounds dead in the treble and congested and lacks detail in the mids, and no matter how I EQ it, I can't seem to overcome those detriments.

oluvsgadgets

It’s just balanced. You are maybe used to a harsher sound

Eli Belous

It has zero stage either

oluvsgadgets

that's the problem of many headphones that create "fake" sound stages due to imbalance and a wonky response. The HD600 is very tight, if I listen to my own binaural recordings, the sound stage sounds very real, unlike the HD800S with an allegedly "great" sound stage, which sounds in reality fake and wrong. Depends what you want. I actually prefer a precise realistic sound stage which may appear not as huge as a fake one.

Eli Belous

I guess that this is where we differ. I prefer fun over reality. Especially if you try to mimic the way your monitors sound in your room over headphones. I guess your room is far from perfect acoustically. I live in a rental so I don't invest in acoustic treatment. My speakers can do so much more in a better room, so I don't try to eq my headphones to aound like speakers in my room.
