Anker Soundcore Life Q30 measurements & EQ settings (Patreon)

The Q30 measures quite bass heavy with most EQ presets, enabling ANC reduces overall bass, while normal and transparency mode add even more bass. My unit shows some slight deviation between left and right channel, which is not that hearable though.

For the user EQ I would enable ANC and use either traffic or indoor mode, outdoor again boosts bass too much. Normal/transparency mode will add even more bass.

Therefore the user EQ works best with ANC active and either traffic or indoor mode. Shown are measurements for left and right averaged with all 3 ANC modes.

The EQ settings shown are as follows:100Hz -6200Hz +6400Hz +1800Hz +31.6kHz +13.2kHz +66.4kHz -112.8kHz +2

I still think that 200 hz must be on 0 or +1 and also 6,4khz must be on -2. I think thats the flatest sound for now

Did you got to remeasure the new firmware back then Olaf? Right now i gusted of the Q30 and they updated it to 02.30 already :) You still have the Q30?

I bought it today in Germany. By using Soundcore app on android, it was upgraded to firmware version 01.80. Same for my Motion+ speaker some months ago. Some YouTubers suggest change of Eq after firmware update for the Motion+. I thought maybe the same also goes for the Life Q30.

These eq settings improve the SQ significantly. The problem is that they still have a slight tinge in the midrange (not transparent). This is noticeable when ABing them with more transparent headphones (Max, momentum 3 wireless with bass -3dB, etc).

Are you on firmware 01.90? I got mine recently and not only it does not seem to differ much between different ANC modes but it also does not have more bass in Normal mode. It actually has slightly less bass in Normal than in ANC/Transparency.

I'm asking the same, there is slightly more depth and clarity in Normal Mode for some parts. I'm also on Firmware 01.90.

Wow. I just got these and these are UNBEARABLE without EQ. But with your EQ and with ANC on indoor OR traffic, These sound like a DIFFERENT headphone. I was about to throw these into the trash.

If I raise the lowest slider a bit, will it screw up the whole signature or only raise subbass a bit? I like your settings, but if the environment is more noisey like on the metro, dispite the noise cancelling, the lows are reduced so much that I can't really hear them

yeah can attest that these are indeed very good sound especially with his eq. Using the money save from sony wh-1000xm4 to sponsor this channel. still dont dare to update to 1.90. Dont know if it's eqlizable with the new firmware.

no the EQ was still made for the old firmware, I didn't have the time to compare the sound of both firmwares yet

Although they did improve the sound over what it was from the factory, I would say these settings are not perfect and I had to change them for the newest firmware to make listening more bearable.

The Q30 with this EQ should sind definitely more neutral but at the same time a bit emphasised in the low bass region. But I updated my EQ in the meantime, let me find it

Hey Oluv, love your work. Your Patreon was actually the first I sponsored. Quick question: in your original EQ for the Life Q30, when you say -6 and +6, do you actually mean using the sliders all the way to the top and bottom or just right to where the numbers change? Currently the limits of the bands are more like 6.5 than just 6. Cheers.

I posted my latest settings on YouTube. It’s not that it changed completely besides the setting may be unit dependent. All units I measured were different. The settings which work for my unit may give different results for your unit. These are cheaply built budget products you cannot expect miracles. Just adjust the sound to your taste.

Got mine a while ago and every EQ I found, this one included, just sounds awful. Hollow and nasal are the words to describe it. Also it seems like Anker changed the hardware last year, ANC via cable isn't possible anymore either. These are settings I found to be acceptable with newer versions (transport NC): 100: -6 200: +4 400: -2 800: -1 (or -2 to further combat hollowness) 1600: +3 3200: 0 6400: +5 12800: 0

Would love to see the Sony XM5 and Bose QC45 tested, the Q30 aren't the greatest, enjoying them way less the hollow they sound than my now broken XM3 with some wavelet EQ on Android.
