The part with the Donald Fagen track and the Drop Panda around 19:00 is cut out (I just left a tiny bit of it inside), you can find that part as audio file here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/45636810

Before starting shooting this video I noticed that my second pair of in-ear microphones had died. But as I had already prepared everything and need to return the headphone soon I wanted to finish this video by all means and took my first pair of microphones instead which had already caused problems before like shown here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/45057736

Therefore please apologize if my sound samples this time may be not 100% representative and I am not sure how long this pair of microphones will still last. Because of this I need to stop with headphone reviews for a while until I get some replacements. I am also expecting a new custom built in-ear microphone from Cascadia Audio which will allow live monitoring, and shoud help me to judge the sound of the recorded headphone much better but I will need to work on this setup after they arrive which will again take some time.

Thefore I want to use the next time to finally concentrate on setting up my couplers, in order to be able to provide decent data for IEMs as well (which means valid sound samples and measurements).

Apple Airpods Max - after midnight listening session

Hi Oluv, Sound quality wise, do you still prefer the anker q30 over the airpods?

Yannis Gkaragkanis

hahaha...boses remind me of some old headphones eighties designed like, that i had bought 3 pairs of them for not more than 6-7 euros!!! i should keep only the ankers and i would start from them comparing others. also i finally agree it's a pretty tough decision to return maxes, but anyways!!!

Yannis Gkaragkanis

i think airpods are better, but especially in europe are overpriced, even with their wireless 'goodies', although their technology and design is probably the best in the market today!!!

Dominik S

Haha Oluv, that metal track was not great :) The Bose QC35 II in my experience do sound better than this sham 700, but still nothing to write home about, just more neutral but also lifeless. Looking forward to some IEM reviews! Since you like the Airpods Max, any plans to maybe give Airpods Pro a shot? Cheers!

Roman Ert

Hi Oluv, what is the best headphone you'd recommend for everyday use? Let's say money is not a concern. Still Elex?

oluvsgadgets

After all issues with the Elex I had i wouldn’t recommend it.

oluvsgadgets

a friend just bought a pair, I will try to borrow them maybe.

Marcin Sławicz

It seems Soundcore Oluv (Aka Soundcore Life Q30 with Oluv's EQ) are gonna be my next headphones :) What a steal! Pay a couple of Euros for Oluv's Patreon and save hundreds on costly crap. I don't mind buying somewhat expensive Airpods if one can afford them, as they seem to sound quite well. But for me Q30s have one big advantage: EQ settings which can be tweaked to one's liking, saved to headphones and used with all sources. Thank you Oluv for all your great videos.

oluvsgadgets

The 560S needs an EQ, without it’s simply too harsh. But Eq-ed one of the best in this price range, although there seem to be some imbalance issues, which according to Sennheiser are within specs but many complained it to sound different at the left and right side. It’s quite noticeable with my unit but Sennheiser just returned it claiming it’s Ok.

Stanislav Baranec

You returning the Airpods already, is a bit pitty. I was about to suggest you buying this 3.5” jack to Lightning cable. From what I’ve heard rumors, it brings the sound quality even higher when listened from analog source. I was curious to hear the difference in person (through your ears then) 😉

Marcin Sławicz

I doubt and I have seen some tests which confirmed, that there was no big difference. Unless the source is really analog, there's no point doing it, since there are additional D/A and A/D conversions applied. It may sound different, not necessarily better.

Armando Neves

Wow..I even considered to buy them (Bose 700), a few years ago.. now, after hearing this, I´m glad I didn´t. Sounds cheap!!

Leon Coleman

Oluv can you please pair the Panda with your laptop and use apple music. I would like you to try to improve the sound with the built in equalizer and give us your findings. I love the way you did that for the Xm4, q30, and He4xx. I'm tremendously enjoying these headphones because of that. I thank you. I have a pair of pandas on the way but I trust your ear (you never let me down).

Jose Santos

The QC35 might sound better but not really different tho imo, my sister got ones and to my ears they sounded similar to these 700.(Comparison made against my tribit xfree tune)

Alex Cirovic

I guess everyday use means different things to different people. I keep grabbing Grado's SR80e more frequently than other more expensive headphones. I wouldn't consider it a portable headphone by any stretch of the imagination, but it has lively character and vocals and midrange in general are great. It's also very light and comfortable although a bit flimsy. Needs to be handled with care.

Dominik S

Yeah certainly not a headphone to buy, if your main priority is critical listening. They might however be the most comfortable noise canceling headphone out there. On the other hand I found the 700's to be quite uncomfortable, at least on my big head :)

Jose Santos

Basically, that also was her porpouse to buy these, and tbh not bad the ANC on bose overall, since they were the ones that invented it i guess. But for sound one has cheaper alternatives and with anker q30 you start even seeing with anc, it's about time we also might have good anc for cheap.

Roman Ert

660S maybe? Although I doubt there will be a big difference... I'm looking towards Focal Clear, they're quite pricey, but many people claim them to be the best, and I haven't heard about them having any QC issues such as Elex. Will probably borrow them soon and will check them out myself. Right now I have Hifiman HE4XX with your EQ, really good sound, although I wish it was a bit crisper and with less treble. I personally don't necessarily need completely flat sound, more so looking for some "sparkle"

oluvsgadgets

I had another listen yesterday and I simply cannot quite like the sound. If there was at least some way built in to tweak the sound but it needs some external Eq and I think that it’s simply not worth it.

Stanislav Baranec

That’s no discussion there’s additional ADC required in the cable. I was just interested, because one of the reviewers on YT, who I quite believe to, was claiming that with the wired connection the sound improves yet a bit. I mean, the cable reduction is cheap, even was in a box for some models of iPhones without headphone jack, so I thought myself it’s not hopeless to try this out 😉

Leon Coleman

Thank you and I understand. Now I regret ordering them. They are being ship and on their way to me. So many reviewers praised them. Some said they sound better than the airpod max. I was going to use them in home with an amplifier and external EQ (like I do the drop He4xx and 58x jubilee). The sound to those improved dramatically based off your EQ recommendations. Was hoping for the same for the pandas. But I understand. Just probably try to return them. Not sure about Drops return policy.

oluvsgadgets

What kind of EQ do you use? Fixed band? Or parametric? I didn’t hear any stronger peaks on the Panda therefore a simple 10-band EQ should be able to fix the sound. I like using the Radsone ES100 for that.

אורי מלכה

Hi oulv i can offer you an artist that i might think you'll like, look for 'AK' on Spotify or apple music. I am impressed with your investment and effort in everyone thanks

oluvsgadgets

There is no artist “AK” on Apple Music, AK Ausserkontrolle and AK 33 but that’s rather some rap

Leon Coleman

I use a 10 band eq (32, 64, 125, 250, 500, 1K,2K,4K,8K,16K) on the LG v60 (quad dac) hooked up to magni 3 amp. Right now the HE4xx is my favorite, with the Focal Elex a close 2nd. They both sound better than my airpod max (which is good but just ok). I just ordered a used AKG k371. I have a Radsone ES100 as well (I havent used it in a long time since I bought it).

oluvsgadgets

You must try creating an audiogram and using that one as headphone correction for the Airpods Max. In my case it improves a lot, I even prefer it over my Elex

oluvsgadgets

Thanks, listening now. He is nice but I prefer Eskadet and State Azure somehow, they offer more feeling, go more into depth.

אורי מלכה

Well thanks for giving me more artists i like that type of music I'll check them too

Leon Coleman

I have no clue what an audiogram is and how to create one and how to use it to improve the sound of headphones.

Karl Vincent Puno

Hi Oluv! So i just bought the Wf-1000xm4 earbuds. I find the sound really good so far and I've seen in one of your videos that you liked it to. I was wondering if you applied and eq tuning in the sony headphone app to make it sound even better?
