Will be another comparisons with tribit xsound mega?

Dennis.M

If they don’t change anything since the last firmware, then not. Doesn’t make sense.

From my own experience with Soundcore Motion Boom (firmware 00.33), it makes not much sense trying to boost bass pretty much for anything else than some softly mastered recordings (like tracks from 80’s, where the bass is usually underwhelming). Adjusting the 80 Hz toggle in Soundcore app doesn’t affect lower bass anyway, when raised, and usually introduces bass artifacts with any modern recording for above moderate listening levels. I pretty much only shape up the treble region with the EQ, and that’s it. No bass miracles are possible with the low power amplifier design, like they used in this speaker, it’s already pushed to maximum with the DSP anyway,, so trying to add some dB to it will most probably make it worse. I’d say that the drivers might be capable of more “umpf”, if they are fed properly with more juice (as stated before, I think that the bottleneck is in amplifier).

Also zwei für ca. 150€, wirklich Top.

HPD

MikeDaveYap

Can you provide a clearer picture or screen shot of your motion boom custom eq?

Tamás Major

I was wondering how two motion booms coupled would perform against the Teufel. Still much cheaper but similar size as one Teufel, might compete much better...

iforgotmine

I believe these are Oluv's EQ settings for the Motion Boom. Sounds great with this setup. 100hz - -6 200hz - +6 400hz - +1 800hz - +1 1.6hz - +1 3.2hz - +6 6.4hz - -1 12.8hz - +2

Hi Oluv, thanks for your always honest reviews. I'm a street musician, could you tell me in your opinion which is the best speaker available below 5kg in terms loudness, quality and bass? Many thanks!

Giuseppe Nieddu

BTW, i have quite a collection of speakers: Conrad Audio dock, Logitech wireless boombox, Monitor Audio ideck 200, Bose soundlink wireless, Anker premium 3143, Jbl clip2. I also have a Tronsmart mega pro and, while i agree that anything else i've seen from them sounded rubbish, i was surprised to hear how loud it gets while still retaining powerful bass. And with the right eq it doesn't sound half bad, especially given the 75-80 Euros price. It has replaced the Anker as go-to speaker for outdoor/beach: it is much heavier, but way way louder. I'd be very curious to hear your opinion about it :) Ciao!

Richard

if you want a nice pro-grade performing speaker you should check out the JBL On-The-Go. It has lots of inputs dedicated to musicians. if you want something smaller with lesser inputs but with still impressive sound signature, the Harman Kardon Go+Play is a nice option which can be aquired second hand for cheap, starting at 140€ used

Giuseppe Nieddu

Hi Richard, thank you very much for this. Have you tried the Jbl? Oluv was not impressed by it, and since it's around 7kg, about the same of the Bose s1, it doesn't look very appealing. Also, consider that i am already using an old but functional DB Technologies Opera 110 mobile https://www.bax-shop.it/prodotti-fuori-assortimento/db-technologies-opera-110-mobile-td-accu-luidspreker (10'' woofer + 1'' Hf, 12kg, 117 SPL ), so i'm mostly looking for something to spread the sound a bit more). I've been thinking about the Go+Play, i'll check a second hand one out next week. Take care :)

oluvsgadgets

The go+play may be too soft. Teufel has released a new Boomster which is claimed to have better bass and overall sound than the old one, it’s below 5kg and not too large, I should get one soon for a test. Also don’t forget the Mackie Freeplay which is extremely loud for it’s size although bass was rather disappointing. The S1 is definitely a killer speaker for street musicians, have you ever tried one?

Dr. Etymud

Yeah I was wondering the benefit of buying another motion as the price of 2 motion booms is still a lot better than many of the high end speakers. But I do wonder what 2 speakers does to the sound, if it improves or just makes it louder. Something really worth testing I think.

Dennis.M

The new Teufel Boomster 2021 seems to be the new Leader in this price and size category. I have already heard a sound comparison on Youtube on the M1M tech channel, in which you can already get an impression compared to the Boomster NG, the difference appears pretty huge. But we all are excited for the sound comparisons and opinion of Oluv. I would wait and watch out for this speaker.

Christopher Bolik

Tamás Major

I'm sure the stereo separation with a bigger speaker distance is a much better experience, so not only the louder sound would be the only benefit of two Motion Booms. However a big minus is the problem with the weird fluctuating sound/bass in some cases, which apparently even after the latest firmware update wasn't solved. Probably it will never be solved, so I don't think I'll ever buy a second one, or maybe if the price would be very low.

oluvsgadgets

I was told the issues were fixed with the latest firmware. I didn’t have the time to try it out on my own though

Tamás Major

No, definitely not. Maybe they improved it a bit, I can't tell it for sure, because I didn't used it for a while, and I forgot to test it before the updated. However I can say it is not completely gone, I can still hear it.
