Royal Palace - Still Image (Patreon)

Another of the reclaimed Elder Folk built buildings in my personal world. This home, in the main port city, has been claimed by the royal family and has been occupied by them for many generations now. One of the reasons for its uniqueness is the water channel that runs in a straight line from the sea and ends in a deep pool in the centre of the throne room. This is the only building in the city with this feature. Like many things, no one is sure of the reason why the Elder Folk built this water channel as the water rises and falls with the tide and it is too narrow for any real boat to fit down it. Like many things with Elder Folk architecture, a lot of theories have been put forward for its purpose, but after many generations it has just become one of the signifying features of the Royal Home.
