Unexpected drop lfg

Ironically, what Erin saw in his vision that disgusted him was the fact that Griesha WOULDN'T kill the Reis family to save Eldia. Crazy!

Dejan Djurdjevic

There is no time travel. Grisha can see Eren's memories, allowing him to see from Eren's point of view. That is how he sees Zeke—through Eren's eyes. So, when Eren says, "Stand up, Dad," Grisha sees himself and hears Eren's voice. In the next episode everything will be clear.

Hippopi

Grisha claimed he lost his memories. He didn't actually ever lose them.

I typically dont like assisting with understanding the story through comments, but this episode is particularly confusing. The best way to think about the "time travel" stuff is to acknowledge that everything we saw in that episode is through the memory of an Attack titan shifter. Grisha can "see" Zeke because Zeke is present in Eren's memory of visiting Grisha's memories. Same way that Grisha can "hear" Eren because of Eren's memory of himself talking to Grisha being passed down to the past Attack titans. Also, not all memories are inherited at all times. Eren had to "unlock" his dad's memories gradually (the only way Eren would be able to see the memories of the future). And in this episode Grisha yells that Eren won't let him see all of Eren's memories.

Dejan Djurdjevic

So in order to avoid any confusion regarding the time travel mechanics, I will break down what type of Time travel we're dealing with here. AOT operates by a particular type of time travel where it's almost impossible to change the past even if you somehow go back in time. And any change that you tried to cause was always meant to happen in the overall timeline. Here time is a fixed circle, not a stream. We may see Eren meddle in the past but that was always meant to happen. The Attack Titan's ability is to receive the memories of its future inheritors. This was hinted when Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin towards the end of S3. Keep in mind, they can only view these memories but can't interact with them. So how was Eren able to meddle in the past? Well, he had 3 perfect conditions: 1. He had the ability of the Attack Titan 2. The ability of the Founding Titan 3. He was also in contact with someone with royal blood AKA Zeke. After Zeke tapped Eren's head, they were able to view Grisha's past memories with Eren using the power of the coordinate. They were freely able to view the past as if it were through a one way mirror. Now if Eren had any other Titan other than the Attack Titan, he would only be able to look. But since Attack Titan can see forward in time, Grisha can use this to see Eren's recollection of the same event that he's currently experiencing in real time. So this mean that whenever Grisha can see or hear Eren, he's actually recieving a brief future memory from Eren's POV where he can see out of his eyes and hear his words. That means he is seeing himself from a 3rd perspective. Then if he responds, his response is simply part of the memory that Eren/Zeke are viewing, allowing for a two way communication through time. Also Note that everytime, Grisha sees Zeke, Eren is always standing behind his dad. So whenever Grisha sees Zeke, it is from actually due to the memories from Eren's POV Another thing to add: Eren did NOT see everything in the future. Eren only saw CRUCIAL moments in the future, for example, he saw Pieck pointing a gun at him when he kissed Historia’s hand 4 years ago, this is why he was so calm when she threatened to shoot him, because Eren KNEW she wouldn’t shoot him. However, Eren DIDN’T know that Porco was going to try to eat him just a couple of minutes later. Even Eren doesn’t know EVERYTHING that will happen

Love the reactions. But these poor guys always get so hung up on wrong theories/interpretations haha. Poor guys lol.

I hope they look at your comment because that would handle their confusion.

TripleTake look at Dejan Djurdjevic comment, it has no spoilers but explains the time travel without spoiling anything.

Ben Stover

He isn't time travelling. He's using Grishas memories of the future to show the future where him and eren are viewing memories, allowing him to interact with the past through memories. He's not actually there. He couldn't kill the founder there.

Ben Stover

Also he can only see zeke because eren sees him. He's seeing erens memories

shmaimeee

i am begging you for the next upload now PLSSSS

deja

He’s able to manipulate the future because of the coordinate. Remember that it was said time is instant and everything happens all at once: past present and future. It’s wild wild

i hope yall read the comments to understand this episode

Artemipsyche

Lmao I love that you had to turn the camera back on to finish the discussion. This is peak AOT

Eren being the one manipulating Grisha by showing him specific parts of the future memories to make it all play out his way is the plottwist of the century dude absolute peak fiction Edit: DONT READ THIS IF YOU DONT WANT AN EXPLANATION OF THE ''TIME TRAVEL'' MECHANICS!!!! Eren is going ''back in time'' by using the paths/coordinate which exists outside of time to send his own memories (of the future) to grisha in the past because they both had the attack titan, however Eren needed to be brought into the paths and have the attack and the founder for this, which is why Grisha can only see the parts of the future that Eren is deliberately showing him through the attack titan using the paths/coordinate, and thus manipulating Grisha. Eren is not actully physically there tho and can only interact with Grisha through sending memories of the future. Essentially the combination of having both the attack titan and the founding titan allows Eren to transcend time by also seeing his own future memories, however Erens own future memories only opened up when he kissed Historias hand due to her being of royal blood and Eren having the founder and the attack titans combined, so he was only seeing the future from the end of season 3, though only key moments not the entire timeline laid out for him. Also in the ''time loop'' Eren was always there pushing Grisha to kill the royal family because he is impacting Grisha from the paths/coordinate which again exists outside of space and time. Basically because Eren has the founder he can enter paths, and because the paths exist outside space and time current Eren can acces any point in time, and then use the attack titan and the coordinate to send memories to Grisha and other wielders of the attack titan at this previously accessed point in time.

Tempered Glasses

Someone give these three the founding titan so they can see their own memories of the previous episodes. Smh lol

Tempered Glasses

When Grisha entered the walls for the first time and claimed he didn't know how he got there, he was just lying. That's it. He was never memory wiped. Where did you guys get that?

Tempered Glasses

Great reaction btw. It's great to see you guys invested. That's what makes reactions the best.

i think they thought that bcs of the lie and the fact that when other titan shifters first get their ability (after they first eat their predecessor), they forget the near past.
