Connie's mom is most definitely not totally "dead" while she's a pure titan. Ymir talked about her time as a pure titan as if she was living through a continual nightmare. Apparently it's horrible.

I always felt that the reason Armin thinks of Erwin in that moment is twofold—one, he knows that Erwin would take the gamble and call Connie’s bluff. Two, he’s just had that conversation with Mikasa where he feels like he can’t ever measure up to Erwin. So he’s already doubting himself and his abilities and then goes into this situation. I think that Armin just took a gamble like Erwin would but also was fully prepared to die if Connie didn’t save him.

Floch was the one who asked Jean what happened to all the scout members before the return to Shiganshina District. He also was the only survivor of who charged the Beast Titan and carried Erwin to Levi and the scouts, also defending to revive Erwin into the Colossal Titan.

I think he was so stressed about living up to expectations, that if his “Erwin-gamble” didn’t work out, he was okay with it.

It's not silly. That's who Armin is. He's not a 'badass' who would threaten his comrade and friend with killing them. He is selfless. He represents pure goodness in the world. He is willing to sacrifice himself, and he always was. Especially in the middle of all this, where he's already doubting himself and putting himself down. Also we have to remember, Armin, Connie, Mikasa, all our main characters, are still. children. They're still 18-21 maybe. Eren is 19. These are just kids. I feel for all the characters of the show. Except the first King Fritz lol.
