The guys who went to kidnap Gun-woo's mum are presidential bodyguards (as it was mentioned in the earlier scene), that is why they are good at fighting. Woo-jin also mentioned that he retired as a boxer to be Gun-woo's coach so he is not same as he was in terms of fighting.

The fact that Woojin has been out of boxing for a few years means he clearly doesn’t have the same skill and performance level as he did in Season 1.
