BY THE WAY - The Chainsaw Man intro is mostly a collage of homages to famous movies, Fujimoto’s film obsession (the man who wrote the Manga!) the shots are parodies of films like Reservoir Dogs, Fight Club, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Thor Love and Thunder, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Sadako vs. Kayako, Constantine, Pulp Fiction, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes etc etc! I've never actually seen the infinity castle movie, I'm still watching along with TT. My sister raves about it though. I loved the emotions, music, animation and overall plot of the movie, as someone who read the manga I think they did it really well. So if infinity castle does well in any of those categories I think I'll like it.

I really appreciate that Seb was so honest about his feelings going into this one. I went into Chainsaw Man knowing the premise but I was actually not really caring about it much and honestly thought I would end up dropping it. But within a couple of episodes I was fully invested in it and I actually ended up binging the series in one go after I was really interested in it. I am excited that Ben and Charlie are excited for it from the jump, but I am also really excited and hopeful that it will be one that grows on Seb and that he'll enjoy it too!

One of the most overrated shows in my opinion... It's entertaining and has REALLY good animation, but that's pretty much it. If you are looking for deep characters and a complex storyline, this is not it. Faaaaaar behind shows like Attack On Titan, so just be prepared. Where are you, Vinland Saga...

Keep in mind this anime has 12 episodes and a movie, the other anime you mentioned have 3-4x the amount of content. You could argue those other anime have more development in their first 12 episodes, but I feel like CSM hasn't finished spreading its wings. It uses A LOT of comedy which takes up space and it's so short we barely see the story unravel. The movie was amazing so I think the show will become more focused moving forward, I see sparks of deeper character development coming soon.

That's exactly why he won't like it. He just said he doesn't like these power fantasy type anime. He wants something with more substance than "A strong guy with blank power"...I like shonen and I barely like SL because the story is so weak...It's just an OP MC that aura farms with side characters that barely match up to him

@Helpy - Orb on the movement of the earth had better story and character development in 3 episodes than CSM in 12 episodes and 1 movie... It's not about the length, it's about the writing. You should not have to wait past 12 episodes and 1 movie to see the full potential of a show. The movie was a waste at developping a great character. Oups, I forgot to mention : I love the artstyle and the OST as well, not just the animation. That's still something haha.

@face - I did see the movie and preferred Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and Infinite Castle. The movie was basically "bla bla bla" and "pew pew pew" with amazing animation. That's pretty much it. No character development of the characters that we knew already. Only one piece of major information (that we already suspected actually in S1) was provided, in a 1-hour-and-a-half movie.

As I explained, CSM is partially a dark comedy, because of this it used a lot of its limited runtime on jokes/gags. The writing talent is 100% there but because it’s covering a few different genres it is taking longer to develop. You just used orb as an example and that anime doesn’t do any outlandish comedy like CSM. It’s not poor writing, it’s just different to what you’re comparing it to. The only point I somewhat agree on is the wasted potential in the movie. But that’s really it, give it another season or 2 and things will be very different.

Big fan of y’all and Seb I get it, all I can say is keep an open mind and try not to compare anime’s too early. Lots of similarities to demon slayer and JJK but still very fresh and unique on its own.

Infinity Castle is like 5 episodes smashed together. You can see where they would leave the usual cliffhanger in between cuts. Not saying the movie is bad in anyway, Infinity Castle was very very good. But CSM Reze Arc crushes it as a movie .

To be fair before I started it i found it ridiculous so I can't blame Seb but after the first episode I was totally into it so he's on his own now 😅😭 Too bad he doesn't really like it and I don't think he completely enjoy it even till the end but we'll see. Really loving Ben and Charlie's reaction though 😊 I wonder when the movie is releasing though

Look not hating on Solo Leveling. But that's literally the plot of the story. If it was just Charlie and Ben, then sure, they would love that thing. But I totally understand why Seb would want a more grounded and a little bit more in-depth story. I think Chainsaw Man has a better story than SL, but Seb doesn't even like the premise of this one, so why would he enjoy SL?

I tho exactly like Seb before I started watching this anime, I found the idea of a guy with chainsaws just ridiculous and uninteresting, but I watched the first couple episodes only cus everyone was hyping it so much, and now its one of my favourite animes ever. This anime is not what it looks like from the first episode

There is near abysmal storyline in SL, I really don’t think this is one that would be enjoyed by all three. If Seb’s struggling with CSM at the beginning which definitely has more substance, SL would tank entirely for him.

@Helpy - You must be a manga reader to tell someone to wait a season or 2 to see the story unravel... But that does not work for anime viewers. If the story cannot pique your interest even after one season and a movie, then, it's poor writing. It means that there's a problem with the pacing and events (the only exception being if the manga is different from the anime). And that's okay, there are so many other animes and mangas who have poor writing in the sense that the rhythm is fucked up. That does not make CSM less entertaining or poor quality. The quality is pretty good but I stand by what I said : one of the most overrated shows I've ever seen in my life. Still more entertaining and interesting than Dandadan. It's a bummer that people requested this to Triple Take knowing that Seb doesn't like that type of thing and that there are sooooo many great animes out there... To me, CSM is way too "weird" and "niche" for them, not in the sense that its "luxurious", but more like you need to be used to watching animes to find CSM entertaining. Otherwise, it's just jokes, nonsense, and cringe.
