Team Fusco, always. Especially now that we know he even helped fake Elias's death. They've had him help this far, and he's just rolled with it for the most part. He's earned the Truth. Finch first-naming him just isn't enough. But it was cute how they were all outside his room and Roots impression "Busy day directing traffic into a river Cocoa Puffs?" I thought of Waiting in the Wings, too. Root getting the message through... Let's goooo. This whole show is geared for the tin foil hats lol

Yet again this show being YEARS ahead of its time. Nowadays the prospect of digitally re-creating a voice is known by all, with deepfakes, AI and the likes, but more than 10 years ago ? That technology was barely at its beginnings. Now Samaritan is being even more efficient than the voices we have today, because it makes it sound perfectly realistic and accurate to the original voice, but we're genuinely (and sadly) not that far from getting to that point IRL. Re-watching the show with you reminded me yet again how pristine season 5 is. The tension is through the roof every time Samaritan is involved, Ramin Djawadi pulled all the stops for the OST in this season as well, and it really feels like there's not a second wasted. Just the scene of Max's death with the slow build up of Samaritan's theme is simply absolute cinema. Raaahhh this show is way too underrated.

Sending the message to Shaw in the episode might seem like a small and inconsequential achievement, but more than just giving her hope back, it helped her re-anchor herself in reality, because she wasn't even sure at this point if it was a simulation or not. By hearing Root's message on the radio, she could be sure that it wasn't a simulation, because Samaritan wouldn't have known about their discussion in If Then Else (because yeah, the "4 alarm fire" is something Shaw said about them two together when Root was basically confessing at the end of 4x11).

Very sorry to say that I'm not with Harold on this one. If a person knowingly refuses, and wants to be a reckless idiot, then you can't force them otherwise. Max could've taken their help and left... but what would stop him from changing his mind in a day or a week? Then he'd be back in the bullseye. They just can't babysit a number 24/7/365. Samaritan wants to eliminate that individual free will... so I like that The Machine accepts that the individual has the final say over themselves, right or wrong. But the layered dynamics of this show always excel at challenging our perspectives. Love the call back to 'If Then Else' with 4AF. "But, you and me together would be like a four alarm fire at an oil refinery."

I honestly hate to imagine how advanced Samaritan would be in 2026, as you said, with how ahead in time this show was. And it’s interesting that the upcoming episode was a kind of scary omen for things to come as well. This show is insane!
