Every month I have to look at what MyAnimeList recommends me based on my ratings and choose one to watch and review, this month i have chosen Spy x Family Season 2

I didn't know people liked Fiona.

The movie does have a plot, and more romance, and some good Yor action, but also some classic "anime romance misunderstandings!" stuff which can be annoying to some (me), and of course as an anime movie it does basically reset by the end.

I think I would like her more in concept if this were an actual romance. I refuse to drink the fandom Kool-Aid of referring to the glacial pace of TwiYor as a "slow burn".

I definitely soured on Spy x Family when I realized it would be more episodic than driven by the main cast's relationships. Tbf I also read it biweekly back in 2019, which is the risk of following a story before the author hits their stride. I assumed early it would be VERY similar to Kaguya Love is War, and wound up disappointing myself

Scratch that. I think realizing that the series ISN'T a slowburn romance would improve the general outlook on Fiona

When a show focuses on minor characters, it’s fine once in a while. It gets obnoxious when the minor characters sidelines the main cast and their story gets derailed.

I definitely understand the frustration which is why I started reading the manga after season 1 so that I could get through it faster I will say I definitely think the story adds a lot more character progression and plot points as it goes on. The anime does have some actual filler episodes - a lot of the two parters, one of the parts is not in the manga. I hope you stick with it, because I think where it's going is truly incredible
