Extremely ahead of his time and an unsung hero in the current electronic music + psychedelic video art landscape imo. Give this a shot next time you’re in a transcendent space -

An example of the kind of DJ sets I’ve been doing lately. Just found out that I might have my first paid gig in November.

In the same way there is psychedelic music, I really do think there is “kratom music”… a specific kind of very faded underground rap music. This is a great example of it: https://open.spotify.com/album/6LTUvLzcmcgtRDnLFFzvzg?si=sKfWfVM3TTasMm494cf0TQ
Also here’s a great Zappa song I found recently, I really think this would be awesome to listen to while tripping.

glenn goulds goldberg variations was a phenomenal recommendation for someone on lsd. i was skeptical at first but im in the middle of it now and its very lysergic and happy! i cant remember what podcast hamilton mentioned this but i second this recommendation.
Curious, how many of y’all like to memorize every single beat of every instrument and verse in songs that they listen to? I used to be able to find quite a few people that did that when I was younger, but it seems to be much more rare nowadays. Mentioned to a co-worker that I could basically play my YouTube music playlist in my head while thinking about whatever is going on, and they thought that was weird.

The title track slaps me silly. Maybe some of you will enjoy it as well. This album is featured in 1000 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. I recommend the collection, it’s somewhere in the range of fifteen thousand tracks, and serves my offline music discovery needs very nicely. There is a particular feeling when I hit shuffle in AIMP on my PC, and know that what I will hear next will not be delivered via algorithm. There is no approximation of my tastes, it does not take anything into account but a one in fifteen thousand chance, which each track possesses equally. Maybe it’s a romantic or contrarian preference to avoid the endless similar recommendations of online music streaming. Even if it is, it’s my preference. If you have an opportunity to build a music library which is not governed by metrics and marketing, do it. You may experience your taste in music expanding in unexpected and delightful directions.
