Hello and good aftermornvning!

If you know me, you may have heard me gloat at some point over the last decade+ about this very specific thing that I considered to be some kind of miraculous superpower:

Never expected a trans comedy skit to pop my Let It Go cherry, but there ya have it. Are any of you out there Let It Go virgins? Please comment and gloat, that I may live vicariously through you. (Here's the original if you want it! Scroll to the end of this post for your discount code before you finish your order!)

My hometown friend Ren's all-trans comedy show may still happen at a venue near you, by the way! He's hitting all 50 states. You can check here for your local-est show.

I'm wondering if any of my fellow gardeners have felt the same way about this as I have:

I'm not sure if I should be comparing gardening practices to eugenics, but "thinning" my seedlings always feels like a Bad Plant Mom move! (Unfortunately, it is a Good Garden Showoff move, if I'm honest.)

Here's the original art for this one!

Finally getting back to some polyamorous wisdom for y'all (I dunno if this'll scratch your collective poly-comic itches, but it's something I think about almost daily, every time I use the word "my" or "mine").

It's true. He will and he does.

Here's the original art for my fellow possession-ponderers. <3

I don't know what the weather's been like where y'all live, but we've had a VERY wet week!

I guess Luke has to be the straight man in our relationship once in awhile. (We both love cryptids!)

Here's the original art for this one, which is more fun in person because the spitting raindrops were drawn in a chisel-tip white marker and some black colored pencil to make 'em sharper!

If he was an indoor cat all the time he'd be a holy terror.

Here's the original art for this one, which I imagine most of you cat-cohabiters can relate to!

If you order an original, don't forget to use the code at the bottom of this post (below the praying mantis drawing) at checkout for 50% off! Which means each original is $25 apiece for you patrons, hooray! (If you can't see that post, it's because I'm sharing the last Daily Comics roundup of each month with ALL members, including free members, so you might just be a free member, which is great, too! Don't feel like you gotta join a tier unless you want to! But yeah you get hell discounts even if you're in the $2/mo tier, so.)

Those last two comics were super inspired by my friend Dave Crosland's recent Substack post, which featured some old pencils vs. final inks from his book Ego Rehab. Dave's a master at dynamic poses and dramatic contrast in his work! Look at this shit!!

So dynamic! And I'm a nerd for behind-the-scenes process stuff like this. If you're into his stuff, you can sign up for his Substack here (it's free), you're welcome!

Speaking of free stuff, well, these aren't FREE, but they are priced to move! I finally put my new Indivisible Pride stickers up for purchase in the store!

They're $2 for one or $10 for a pack of 10, because I want you to stick them everywhere, especially in public. And they're shipped in regular-ass envelopes, so they're cheap to ship, even if you're overseas!

These sold out in less than 24 hours yesterday after I shared a sneak peek to my $5/mo Art Nerd tier (THANK YOU, Art Nerds!), so this listing is for PREORDERS. I'll be reordering more of them Monday depending on how many preorders there are, so if you want some, order them today or this weekend so I know how many to buy. :)

Speaking of pride, Shepherdstown Pride kicks off this weekend! We're having our first Pride Parade (somehow we've never had one before?!) on Sunday, June 1st at 6 pm, starting at the top of German Street. I'll be in it, so if you wanna see me wearing the most colorful clothes I can find in my gothy neutral wardrobe, come right at 6! It's our first time, so it'll be a short parade!

If you wanna make a whole weekend of it, there's a SLEW of Pride-related events going on around town, especially at the Black Box Theater on Princess Street (now called Roving Peregrine Theatre Company)! Come out if you're intrigued!

Whatever you get into this weekend, have a chill one, and spread a little queer-supportive love to someone who needs some while you're at it. 🌈

I will support you on whatever lore you want to invent for the Shepherdstown Stilt Monster! The world needs more cryptids.

Yesterday I had the EXTREMELY late-to-the-party realization that Elsa's arc can be seen as a metaphor for coming out as transfem. Raised with several of the standard modern male-coded things (suppress emotions, your touch is violence), when she finally breaks out of this the first thing she does is sing a big song about finally being her true self while making herself a fairytale castle and a gorgeous dress. So, yeah, not surprised that they'd do that song at that event.

I HATE thinning seedlings, it makes me heart hurt 😫 Also... are the holes too big to be cicada-emergent holes? Lots of usually-undisturbed ground around Cincinnati is looking very swiss cheesey lately, with all the cicadas doing their weird lil zombie-walk to adulthood.

dcorsetto

ooooOOOOOOOooohhh. I know LITERALLY NOTHING about the story, either! (I had a moment reading this like "Who tf is Elsa?" Took me a moment!)

Douglas Appelt

Well, of course you love cryptids! (you wouldn't want the Mothman mad at you, right?)

dcorsetto

Good call!! They're too big for that, but I hadn't thought about it! (I hope there are also cicada-emergent holes somewhere in there! 💚 )

dcorsetto

GOD imagine Mathman being MAD AT YOU PERSONALLY. D:

It started as an adaptation of the Ice Queen, your standard "plucky heroine faces down evil queen and defeats her" myth, but got turned into a Power Of (Sisterly) Love story. Damn good songs, too. The setup is that Elsa is Cursed, and accidentally partially froze the soul of her sister when they were both young. Then their parents are killed in a storm at sea, leaving the sisters to grow up functionally alone in a sealed palace. On the occasion of Elsa's ascension to majority and the throne, the palace is opened up for the first time in over a decade, and it turns out Elsa cannot perform the emotionless role required of her. A lot of snow and ice ensue. You might wanna watch it at some point, it's quite good. (It also sets up a gag that pays off in Zootopia, of all places, showing that Alan Tudyk is willing to commit to a bit.)

dcorsetto

Holy shit, Disney went HARD for that story?! Good for them!! Hey, thanks for the synopsis, maybe I'll suffer through the music to watch it (I know I knooooww I've been told the music is good, I'm just very picky about music and I dislike 99% of musicals).

Pete Jordan

The middle stanza of a poem I wrote five years ago: “Love grows with the giving aye and with the receiving without let or limit a chalice that grows in size and strength and capacity the more it is filled the more it is poured out into the world” Sadly, unlike love, time is a finite resource 🥰

dcorsetto

I'll take as much as that kind of love as time will allow. :)

Dave Van Domelen

One thing that kinda bugged me but you might prefer is that the singing just sort of stops after the big "oh, crap" turning point a little past the halfway mark. Once they get down to the business of dealing with all the problems the sisters caused or helped to cause in the first half, it's just instrumental score.

allanfranta

I replant the little guys, they will come up stronger without the competition.

A Winged Potato

I have never once succeeded in replanting a seedling I have thinned out and it too kills me every time (especially when something later conspires to kill the winner).

Tim Pendergast

If the cats want to go out in the rain, why not let them? Especially if they're going to lose their mind like Pip. Better he should mope on the porch! I think this is the first time I've seen Luke in glasses. Does he always wear them or did he just put them on to look smart when talking about squirrels? ;)

Amy Crook

I don't know if we'll have the energy to weed seedlings for things we planted, but we planted! I got to use my little digger gloves. I thought of you. Also, I very much relate to the poly/morning person comic. Mal comes to pester me awake, and then when it's actually time to get up she's like nooooo.

dcorsetto

Mostly, the mess. They bring in muddy paws and, as you can imagine, that doesn't mix well with paper! Or my mood, for that matter. Hahaha! Luke mostly wears glasses after a long day at school in contacts! Especially when the kids are doing clay - all that clay dust mucks 'em up!

dcorsetto

"I'm here to SNUGGLE, what'd you think I came in here for??" Hooray for planting!! What'd you pop into the ground this year?

Andy Ihnatko

I have the exact same relationship with certain songs, and even certain…"pop-culture drama"? It seems as if when something achieves Top-Tier Virality, I instinctively try to inoculate myself by actively avoiding it. I still have no idea how "Gangam Style" goes, or if it's a dance, a song, or specifically a dance _with_ a song. (This defensive response dates back to when I was in school. A certain very sad crime – it didn't involve a retired football player – was being exploited in deep, deep detail in every newspaper and magazine for what seemed to be weeks. To mine a new Yogi Berra-ism: "The coverage became impossible to avoid, so I decided to start actively avoiding it." To this day, when coverage of something that absolutely doesn't affect my life becomes oppressive and inescapable, I declare that I've reached my [Name of leading perpetrator in that Sad Crime] Point.) I'm determined not to be arrogant or prissy about it ("What was that name? 'Cardash-ian'? Oh! That's one of those people who drive around delivering takeout food, right? They use an app?"). Still, I'm not 100% certain that I would have done what you did. My ego might have forced me to flee the scene to preserve my lack of familiarity.

Andy Ihnatko

Every time I see one of those machine-gunned patches of ground during my walks, I imagine a very frustrated squirrel muttering to itself "I KNOW I say this EVERY SPRING, but this time I MEAN it: I've GOT to start keeping TRACK of where I bury these things!!! First thing tomorrow! Maybe an app or something!"

Dirk Bergstrom

I am pretty much a complete Frozen virgin. I long ago concluded that musicals are not for me. I'm a big extreme metal guy, so it's not like I'm going to run into those songs in my daily listening life.

Amy Crook

We put creeping phlox in front and back in different colors, and some blue hosta bulbs, hydrangeas, two kinds of lavender, two kinds of dahlias, some asian lilies, um, and some other flowers? And we also seeded our lawn with clover and pollinator mix, and used some sunflower seeds from our last year's sunflower plus a packet of hollyhock seeds, and some other packet of flower seeds neither of us can remember now. XD Basically flowers, and clover to choke out the grass, haha. I've also been IDing our various wildflowers on iNaturalist and we have had Glory-of-the-Snow, speedwells, violets, ground ivy, and a bunch of other purple things! Dr. Dan's got a few pots of herbs going, too, but those will stay potted.

Dave Van Domelen

BTW, feel free to skip Frozen 2. While on paper it has a decent plot and some strong themes (including one I wouldn't have expected Disney to touch), it doesn't quite work. Plus, a big issue for me is that it feels like an extended fix-fic by someone who loved the first movie but thought the epilogue was All Wrong, so they wrote an entire second movie to get to their preferred happy ending. (And the songs are all pretty forgettable.)

Rich

Sticker order done! International shipping is often a problem so this is delightful to discover. I look forward to sticking them on bits of Bristol (mostly some bars I love who will be delighted to have them stuck there)

Dean Reilly

Sorry to hear your Frozen v-card melted. 😂

Tudza

Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it kill all life below. 'Cause I never liked any of you anyway. Do you want to kill a snowman? Run him over with a snowplow We can do it all in snow-time It just takes a little snow-how

Paul Mischler

5/23 makes me think of playing Whamageddon during winter holiday season. I started out OK, last year, but then some wiseass working the A/V crew at PAX Unplugged decided to put Wham's "Last Christmas" in the playlist of songs right before Elizabeth Hargrave's (Wingspan) keynote address. People were not amused when those playing the game realized what happened. They did it again Saturday night before the Jonathan Coulton / Paul & Storm concert. The crowd there was MUCH more vocal with their displeasure over being sent to Whamhalla.

Ripley LaCross

These are all so good I can't even pick a favorite; the lead up and payoff of each one is a reward all of its own. But the seedling eugenics 🤣 It just feels so wrong to thin them!! They all worked very hard to get this far and now I gotta [REDACTED]???

Minzoku Bokumetsu

Your mistake was making a Big Deal about never hearing it, bc then OF COURSE YOU WILL secondhand story: When the Star Wars prequels were new, some fan wanted to avoid spoilers to the point of not even knowing the NAME of Episode 3 before it came out (a friend coded a filter to block mentions of it online) All well and good until he went to look up a recipe that called for "potatoes, onions, and carEpisode 3" "car-rots... Revenge of the GODDAMNIT"

dcorsetto

Ha! Dirk, I hear ya. I'm a shoegaze/weird sound collage fan, so unless someone makes GRUNGE: The Musical, I'm probably not gonna be into it!

dcorsetto

Ha! Omg, "Last Christmas" can absolutely sniff my armpits. That song makes me so mad!!

dcorsetto

Ahaha aww Ripley, that means so much coming from you!! Thank you!

dcorsetto

It took me a minute to get this but WHAT A PAYOFF!! I sent this to Luke (a Star Wars fan) immediately, thank you for sharing it!

Margreet de Heer

Pip going berserk is rendered BRILLIANTLY!!!

BrenaMarie

I never saw Frozen or Tangled until my sister and I were wading through grief after our mom passed away in 2015 and watched them together. I had been subjected to the song in snippets, I believe, before that. 🤷‍♀️
