Hello, Art Nerds! I'm a little late getting this up, but we had another Wednesday night figure drawing I'd like to share with ya.

We had Robbie, whose face I find notoriously difficult to draw.

5-minute warmups!

I made him look kinda sad in the sketch for our long pose, but the three of us spent the first half hour talking about The State Of Things, so this is probably accurate:

I got a decent amount of process photos this time! Slightly different energy, but I liked both of the pencil drawings.

If you've been on this journey with me for awhile, you may recall that I've tried to avoid yellow for a long time in my watercolor figure drawings. Yellow's such a light color that I was constantly just going straight to the canary-colored pan every time I wanted a "light value."

This time, after I lightly erased the pencils and started loading up my brush, I looked down at my palette and decided "dark red-purple, and... yellow." So I had to go against my learned-unlearned habit, and lean into the yellow, which felt a little mischievous!

Luckily, kicking that bad yellow habit helped; even though I allowed myself to use yellow this time, I instinctively swayed the hue more orange, or more green, depending on where it was being laid down. Way more interesting than straight-up yellow!

The final!

I love how glowy this one ended up being. I even felt good about the face!

Still don't know what's going on in those knees & legs, but I liked how they all turned out!

Here's the listing for the original art on this one, and as always, if you want anything from the figure drawing department of my store, use ARTNERD50 for 50% off at checkout, because you've earned it. Thanks for helping me afford to keep up this practice, y'all. :)

See you around noon, when the daily comics are up!

Love this and would buy...if I didn't just drop my car off for $2k of repairs. :'(

I love this! The knees are great this time, geometrically organic somehow.
