Michael and I took the last few weeks off from figure drawing so he could finish up a commission, and, lo and behold, he also got a surprise check for two paintings that sold at Principle Gallery in Alexandria!

In the meantime, I spent all day Monday (successfully) hunting down money owed to me by various clients, so by the time Tuesday rolled around, we were both feeling flush and stoked to get back to figure drawing business Wednesday.

Let's start with our usual 5-minute warmups!

I'll be doing my Figure Drawing for Cartoonists at SPX this weekend, so I had a cartoony approach in my mind last night.

As usual, I "got out all the lines" on the left, and got a bit exaggerative on the right.

... and then took it a smidge further in the final sketch.

I remembered to take ONE process shot for ya!

I really liked the warm right leg/cooler left leg in this stage, I wish I would have kept that! Here's the final:

(Drawing straight lines is my worst nightmare, so I turned the staff he was holding into a ball.)

I enjoyed drawing his face verr much.

That's it for now, Art Nerds! If I manage to do a little drawing at my own workshop this Saturday, I'll share 'em with you next week!

They're good knees! I like 'em, shapely but not overdone. Also his stinkface makes it look like he's holding something very displeasing, hee, love it. And I love the lighter color that still has some nice darks! So good!

The final is so emotive! He looks pissed off and determined! "Fuck with me, I dare you!" The face, but the body language, too! Love it.
