Hello, and welcome to your Friday Afternoon Comics page, my dears! *edit: I hit "publish" on Friday and left to run a bunch of errands; apparently it did not publish! So, happy SATURDAY to most of you, sorry about that!!

If I've ever asked to stay at your house, uh, well, here's the reason. 😬

Still am. 😬😬😬

Here's the original art for this one, my fellow creeps! Use the discount code (in bold at the bottom of this post) for your Patreon-exclusive 50% off!

I have a couple of group-text threads with cartoonist friends and we love texting cool panels that we notice in other people's work (although we're often swooning over each other's work, like a bunch of lil cheerleaders).

Don't get me wrong, canceling is a powerful tool for overpowered, otherwise-untouchable people, but... if the person you're attacking might read your strongly-worded email (most comics creators), just send a strongly-worded email first.

Anyway, the original's here if you'd like it!

"Praise Me" would be pretty cringey, and I would feel gross writing it. But the self-sabotaging side of me is still tempted to write the "Cancel Me" book.

And since the self-sabotaging side of me is often personified by Pip...

It's NOT A CONTEST, PIP. I know you've done worse.

Anyway, that was the first bad thing I remember doing, so that would be the first story. And now you know. (Now you also know that we ran around acting like horses, which is bad but in a different way.)

You can buy both pages here, as a reminder that I'm not perfect! It's a little more than the single-page comics, but with your Patreon code it's only $40 for both pages, huzzah!

Idk how many comics I've made about Buy Nothing at this point, but here's another one.

Someone please take my dying donkey's tail plant. (Yes it's different from a burro's tail plant.) (No it's not easier to care for.)

If one of you plant-killers wants the original art, it's right here.

Go into this next one knowing that panel one has only happened to me twice and always in low lighting.

I'm a trash bucket but my skin ain't too bad.

My actual regimen is: change your pillowcase often; get enough sleep; hydrate; and never ever wash your face. Just don't wash it. If you must wash your face, wash it with... a tiny drop of Dawn dish detergent. Yes. Dawn. That's my trick, guys, I dunno what else to tell you.

Here's the original art for all my skin secrets! Remember to use the coupon code DAILYSMILE50 for your 50% off discount at checkout! And this post took long enough to put up, I'll leave it at that - love you miss you see you next week!

I still remember a pool party at my sister's friend's house. I couldn't have been more than 10 but even so, I couldn't get over the fact that she had a TV and a PHONE in her room. And rather than being jealous, I could only think "Why on EARTH would a kid have their OWN phone, and their OWN television?!" It seemed like needless, OUTRAGEOUS decadence. (Typing that sentence today makes me feel like I was born in the 1900s.)

The weirdest thing I remember was seeing the mother of the house (there were four kids in it), cleaning the kitchen floor by pushing a dishtowel around with her bare feet. I remember staring at that, wondering what happened to her mop. Looking back, I figure she was trying to handle all her kids, and this was the fastest way to clean up a mess.

This month was the first time I answered the annual winter question "Ugh, why does my face feel so TIGHT and DRY?" with "uh…because you've never used moisturizer on it, ever? And you probably should, especially during winter?" So I had a confidential conversation about it with a trusted chatbot. I just didn't know. When I was a kid, men used bear grease for soap and shaved with the same axe they killed the bear with. Our male role models (in family and in culture) aggressively did NOT encourage skincare.

Hey, I used to run around pretending to be/ride a horse all the time as a kid. I even had some friends who'd do it with me. It was a lot of fun

Caroline

I knew my Friday was missing something! Thank goodness I caught this before bed, now the day is fully complete!

I also get the questions about my skin and the answer is, I also do none of the things you're supposed to. So maybe that's the answer - don't smoke, and don't fall for the hype?

"Hi, I'm Troy McClure. You might me remember me from such shows as 'Dames With Catapults' or 'Pachyderm Palace'. Today, we're here to preview the new series, 'Cancel Me', starring that lovable goofball, Danielle Corsetto! Let's take a look at a scene from the first episode . . . "

My skincare routine is staring accusingly at my hands as they start to crack in the winter

And all this time I thought you were the perfect human being!

I write the "Cancel Me" part of the book every night before I fall asleep and the "Praise Me" Part never. ;) I too liked being at other peoples' house, if only because it meant I wasn't at home. Never did a sleepover as a kid, as that was apparently a thing only girls did when I was young. Granted, I was grotesquely unpopular as a kid so maybe I just never got invited to one and the other boys never talked about them so I wouldn't ask to come.

Come visit and give Ronan another set of legs to leap at! It's a wonderful experience!

If you like creeping I suggest going to real estate open houses. It's a great way to get a look inside other people's lives (the fully staged houses are less interesting). I also highly recommend the novel _Magnetic Fields_ by Ron Loewinsohn. One of the main characters is a small-time criminal who gets into robbing houses because he loves "being where other people have their life".

It used to bug my sister that I never got pimples and didn't do more than splash water in the direction of my face after brushing my teeth (brush rinsed first, then toothpaste) while she had this whole regime of things she "had" to do to keep her skin "clear"...

allanfranta

Ahem! I do that now on occasion. An apparently true story of the origin of the swiffer mops!

Jaeger

Same!!! Horsey kiddos, unite!

Dogpiling is wrong. Period. I read, maybe 2 or 3 years pre-lockdown, that detergent (of any kind) destroys skin's natural protective oils and, if you're prepared to go through the week or two of dermatological recovery and adjustment, you can live your life washing with hot water alone. Without adverse comment from anyone you encounter. 🙂

Casey

I was also that creep kid. I loved seeing how other people lived. Also I enjoyed a break from my three siblings.

dcorsetto

Haahahaha! (Luke JUST taught me the word "pachyderm," glad I got that one figured out before reading your comment!)

dcorsetto

Oohh ho ho, you'll relate to one of the next dailies... (ouch and I'm sorry!)

dcorsetto

An ANGEL!! (That's why I'd write the Praise Me book - make sure there's a good comparison!)

mex

had the same face care routine convo with some friends a few years back and my answer was just "uh... lotion?"
