Last week's rookie was our long pose model for tonight, and she was AMAZING at both holding the pose and getting back into it after each break!

After our five-minute warmups, I did my usual get-out-the-realism-bug-first for the first 40 minutes, and then covered that drawing with a new sheet of paper and used the first drawing as a guide for the next one, slightly exaggerating and simplifying as I went along.

I've been doing this process a lot lately and I REALLY like it. By using the last drawing as a guide for the general layout, I can focus on where I want to take it, rather than starting the whole thing from scratch (and inevitably not exaggerating anything).

Ultimately I'm still never quite hitting the level of Peter Emmerich exaggeration that I'd like to (like this and this), but at least it's always a clear difference from the first drawing!

Very nice. Not sure about the 'right-angled butt' but I suspect that's because she's sitting on something? Also - Merry Christmas to one and all!

The one you say you like best kind of has a "New Yorker" style to it...I like it.

Oh she's definitely sitting on something! It was a very cushioned seat, so it did some wonderfully wonky things to her overall shape. :) Merry Christmas to you, too!
