We had this lovely model in the studio again last night!

Unfortunately every single Zebra brush pen (and even the one black Kuretake Zig pen I brought) was so worn-in I couldn't get fine details in the faces, which is why most of the faces look a little off, IMO.

It's always bugged me when an artist claims that "your tools don't matter; if you're a REAL artist, you'll make something beautiful out of whatever you have handy!" If you have an image in your head, but the tools you have can't make that image a reality on paper, it doesn't mean you're a art failure, or not a "real" artist! It just means you need to find the right tool, be it a brand-new pen to replace your old busted one, or a sharpened stick dipped in mud.

Anyway, aside from that tiny hand I drew, I do like the way the two cartoony drawings on the right turned out. :)

Yuppers. You can get great photos with a $3000 camera or with the phone in your pocket. BUT that doesn't mean that the phone will let you create the image you have in your head.

TOTALLY. (Said to myself last weekend, when I realized I hadn't packed my Nikon for my brother's wedding! So many nice photos that can only really be enjoyed at web resolution...)

More than once, I've taken a snapshot in my neighborhood with my phone cam while I was just out taking a walk. Then I looked at it and thought "Crumbs. That's a nice photo. Now I'm going to have to run home, grab my good camera, and try to reshoot this before the lighting changes, aren't I?"
