One morning recently, I woke up early to trace the steps Miranda would walk to get from her house to the tea shop she works at. Miranda is quiet, shy, romantic. She notices shadows and reflected light and small details. So I wanted to view her daily walk to work through her eyes.

I took a bunch of photos on my walk and popped them into a folder to draw later, but I decided later should be now. I've had these two enormous blank books on my bookshelf for over a year - they're actually the mockups for the GWS hardcovers, but I knew they'd made great marker sketchbooks, so I kept them until I was ready to deface their insides.

They're terrible to erase pencil from, but fun to lay markers on! They don't bleed, either.

Anyway, I'm returning to my Inktober challenge from last year - drawing settings using minimal colors and focusing on composition and value. Man, if you don't use it you really CAN lose it! So I'll be drawing more of these little sketches to keep myself on the ball; I'll share them with you when I have another heap of them. :)

A lovely series of Quiet Moments. They really pull the viewer in.
