Look I'm not an early adopter of anything so I know I'm four days late to this party, but it's Friday so I think today's a better Studio Tour Party day anyway. Here's my studio!

I sat in that office chair as-is for YEARS before I bothered to replace the ripped-up seat with some red fabric. It took me eleven years and twenty minutes to fix it. It is SO EASY to fix one of those chairs, YouTube it!!

The little red dot light turns on when your pencil has reached peak sharpness! :o

PS you can TOTALLY sharpen colored pencils in an electric sharpener - even wax-based ones - you just need to run a stick of graphite in there once in awhile to clean the wax off the blades.

I use that scale to measure all of your packages. :) (The date stamp wasn't a sign for anything deep, it was just a sign that I should buy it.)

Not pictured: the daily to-do lists that I write out for every single day of the week. Sometimes twice when I need to change the order of my to-dos.

Protip: On your to-do lists, put stars next to the things you HAVE to do that you're putting off, and hearts around anything that you enjoy doing, or that affects someone you love. I put hearts around <3 plants <3 and <3 mail <3 because I love watering the plants and walking to the post office.

I also put hearts around <3 Ellie <3 when it's a day that she needs to get medication. I hate doing it, but makes her feel better.

That pile of Patreon Surprise is on top of my Epson Perfection V600 scanner, the best reasonably-priced scanner for watercolors and colored pencils, imo.

Pip and Ellie usually spend the day with me in that brown chair and on the rug in front of it, or wherever there's a sunbeam.

You can tell I vacuumed because there are no cats in these pictures. Vacuum Cleaner is their one and only shared nemesis.

The scrap paper thing is like, my favorite trick! I put opened envelopes and any used paper with plain backs in there, and that's what I use to sketch out ideas. I'm not afraid to use it because it's trash paper anyway, so I get a lot more ideas down, it's great!

Anyway that's my studio, that's where I live every day. Hope you enjoyed all these little detailed photos! (I hit the publish button before proofreading, in case you're wondering why you got two notifications! I'M NOT YELLING I'm just clumsy.)

I love this SO MUUUUCH, Studio Porn is the best!! I love all your organizational skillz and your knick-knacks and don't even get me started on the calendars and multiple lists ... <3

dcorsetto

If I ever forget ANYTHING I have ZERO EXCUSES because I write this shit down FOUR TIMES!! (I'm so glad Patreon gave us a reason to share our studios with people, because I feel selfish enjoying all these little things by myself!)

Monica Gallagher

YESSS that's the way to do it, repetition! I have the most makeshift/transitional home studio, but you've definitely inspired me to make all my spaces more purposeful!

Lucy Bellwood

Well of COURSE it's gonna take three extra days if you're gonna be a badass about it! This is so lovely. I've *been* in this studio and I still loved looking at all the pictures and ooh-ing and ahh-ing. This space makes my brain happy and reminds me of the first studio I ever got to hang out in. Just bursting with inspiration and good creative vibes.

dcorsetto

I'm so glad my deep need to share every crevice of this studio with people reads as BADASS. (It is SO MUCH BETTER since you visited, particularly with the addition of Comfy Chair!) (Also this is how I felt every time I woke up and peeped into your bedroom, getting all that Good Room buzz in the morning.)

Bryan Freehan

I used to have that same pencil sharpener!

dcorsetto

UUGGHHH it is the BEST!! I tracked another one down (in blue) for my friends (both artists) because they coveted mine so much!

Amy Crook

AAAAH this is so great! My old kitty gets meds daily (ugh!) but we started mixing the ground-up pills with beef baby food, and now she yells at ME when i'm late with the treat. Also, I'm EXTEREMELY jealous of the neatness of your studio and, uh, life. It's so wonderful!

dcorsetto

Aahh I'm so glad your elder cat WANTS the meds now!! Ellie gets injections every two days, and while she takes it without any need to hold her down (it takes about 10 min), she hisses at Ryan every time he sticks the needle in. As for neatness, I was DEFINITELY NOT like this for many many years! I started dating a tidy minimalist and, after 6 years, I guess it's finally started rubbing off on me. ;) Having a PLACE to put things is key!

Amy Crook

Poor everyone! Injections must be awful, sigh. We tried a steroid for B's arthritis and she was stoic about it, but it didn't help long enough to be worth keeping up, sadly. But they're both lucky to have humans who care enough to give them the very best, even when it's the worst.... I'm slowly working my Marie Kondo to get enough places for all my Things, but man, there's SO MANY shiny things (I have a small art supply addiction lol). I am absolutely gonna try being more organized with the scrap paper, though!

NJGR

My random thoughts after looking through this: I'm absolutely jealous of your Cul de Sac originals, by the way. I just read Spinning earlier this month, and I absolutely loved the art and the way those moments were captured. I adore your calendar organization and would love to do something like that, but I used to buy planners and NEVER finish using them because I just don't write things down anymore, ever since I graduated from undergrad. I love the organization of your entire room, honestly, but all your calendar setups make my heart so happy. Also, I just wanted to note that I noticed the post-it about mat and frame on your needs-to-be-framed original, and I think we should do something like that with the ones we have yet to be framed so we remember what we're looking for and can grab them when our favorite mat/frame place has a sale. What a great idea! (-Jess)

Melody

Your note about cat meds and to do lists made me realize I should think about cleaning the cat tray as something that makes 2 people I love much happier (both cats) and maybe I can quiet the anxiety that way.

Dean Reilly

I remember seeing the strip you made about keeping Pip out of your studio. Good to see that you've found a solution!

Sarah Manx

Ok, now I need *all* of my favorite creators to post pictures of their bookshelves. This needs to be a thing! ❤️

dcorsetto

Haha I love this list of random thoughts! I should do a small tour of the art in my whole house; there's a tiny original by Tillie (Spinning) next to my bathroom mirror that I covet and would love to share. The paper calendars are KIND OF RIDICULOUS because I NEVER put that shit into my phone, so if someone asks my availability while I'm not home, I tell them I need to look at my calendars first. It's kinda silly. But I *HATE* Apple's calendar app, it just doesn't work with my brain at all. So paper calendars it is! I have a note in my phone dedicated to sizes of things I need to purchase frames/furniture for, and a tiny measuring tape. Super useful when I happen to be at a Goodwill (they have the best variety of frames, naturally!).

dcorsetto

He taps at the bottom of the lock, but can't quite figure it out! LET'S KEEP IT THAT WAY, PIP.

dcorsetto

TBH I WANT THAT TOO. And all their favorite art hanging on their walls. :)

NJGR

Ahhhh! I want to see the art tour so bad now! I wonder if you could find a better calendar app that mimics what you love about the paper calendars. I'll bet there's something good out there, but I just don't know what it would be. (I'm an Android person over here.)

dcorsetto

Honestly I'm pretty lazy for not looking yet! :p I definitely see an "other art tour" in the patron future!
