I finally found a good live drawing group online! It's called DC Model Collective (here on Instagram, here on Facebook, and here's their weekly schedule), and it might be the only collective run entirely by models. This was a 2-hour session with Emily.

What sold me on them (in addition to their robust schedule) was that they start off with 1-minute and 2-minute warmup poses! These are THE BEST for preparing to draw dynamic poses; you have to get all loose with 'em.

These were all done with grey Tombow brush pens.

Next were four 5-minute poses.I already posted these ones for all patrons, the Food for Heads ones (all 5 minutes):

Here's the 5-minute one that didn't get a foodhead, poor gal. There wasn't enough space!

We had a little break, then two 10-minutes:

I love a good casual pose you'd actually see someone doing in real life. :)

After that we had one final 20-minute pose. I requested some foreshortening and was surprised that the rest of the artists were gung-ho about it, too! Emily let us boss her around plenty before we settled on this pose (which I spent too much trouble toning - should've stopped at inks!).

The online session was really smooth and cost was reasonable ($10 for 2 hours), so I think I'll do more in the future! If you'd like to join me for a future session, let me know in the comments and I'll make a post next time I do one of these. :)

Totally looking them up! Thanks! Would love to join you at some point. I haven't done life drawing in ages (and it shows)

Depending on when it was, I'd be interested! I haven't done proper figure drawing in ages. Was it via zoom or hangouts or what?

YAAAAAAY that would be so much fun!!

I casually found some on YouTube but it'd be much more fun with you!

I had you in mind, Sheri! It was via Zoom, worked really smoothly! They always invite the rest of the models to watch the session for free, which is nice for about a dozen reasons, but one reason is that if there are any malfunctions or the model needs feedback from another model who knows how to fix something, there are people in there to help. :) I already love their group, they seem really supportive of one another.

(that looks so weird without emojiis.)

oh nice! it looks like they have a pretty good spread of their schedule too, not just a specific time slot. I'd love to try it!
