I finally organized a safely-distanced live figure drawing session in my backyard!

I didn't take a photo until everyone had dispersed, but you get the idea:

My usual figure drawing partner Michael came to draw, as well as my friends Holly and Andrew the Record Store Guy (the beer-drinking individual in the photo; Laura Mae's just there for moral support). Our model was super chill and we just used ambient light, so the focus was more on shape than values.

Started off with some 5-minute warmups:

... then moved into some 10-minute and 20-minute poses:

No food for heads this time, because I really wanted to draw her cool face!

If the bug level in my yard stays as low as it has the last few weeks, I'll probably do another one of these! Which, as you can see from the photo, will always be SFW, because my backyard is not private AT ALL.

I haven't wanted to complain publicly about this because this week is definitely not the time for me to bring attention to myself, but I pulled something in my back over the weekend and I've been in a sling the last few days. It's been hard to focus on work (I was surprised I could hold my lapboard to do these figure drawings!) and I haven't started on my pages for Elephant Town yet - conveniently, it's an easy update, as you'll find out on Monday.

Anyway, if I've seemed quiet, part of the reason is that I don't have anything useful to add to the current conversations about race (I've just been listening & learning), and also because it HURTS TO TYPE!! Luckily reading doesn't require a whole lot of effort. Hope y'all are well. <3
