Meighan's Spanish isssss about as good as mine.

That established, special thanks to patron Kier for helping me fix up the Spanish in this chapter! If you know Spanish, the next update will be a breeze for you. If not, Meighan will probably help you out. ;)

Hope a lot of you are having the same beautiful weather we're getting out east! It's sleep-with-the-windows-open weather out here, my favorite kind of weather.

I was wondering the same, does he not have a sink at all? First time hearing about efficiency apartments!

The IRL apartment Berto lives in was the first *I'd* ever heard of it, too! When I went back to take reference photos, they'd upgraded it from an efficiency to a two-room mini-apartment with a tiny kitchen where the bathroom used to be (the bathroom is now just half the size it used to be).

Oh wow, I just read the kitchen part and now I'm wondering how they were allowed to call that old apartment an efficiency! Back when I looked at it, it didn't have ANY kitchen amenities!

This seems similar to what got called a bedsit (bed-sitting room) in Dublin when I was there ca. 1990 (there was a dreadful shortage of student-type housing at the time and landlords took full advantage. Bedsits were later outlawed in Ireland).

Ooh interesting! I'm pretty sure Berto's apartment is a code violation, but luckily that fits in nicely with the background story on his landlord. ;)

Aaaahahahaha!! If I "recuerdo"ed how to speak in past tense, I'd say that I didn't know Giant stores were in Spanish-speaking countries!

ah yes, the Spanish-speaking country of Maryland with its Scan-it checkout lanes with español voice options (I srsly would select that just because the English was getting on my nerves x 6 active lanes of it)
