Hey and hello, friends! WOOF, I missed figure drawing! I'm so glad Mathew started his Wednesday night modeling again!

We got to do a ton of one-minute gestures first (and I am RUSTY!!)...

... and moved on to 5-minute poses...

... one ten-minute...

... and rounded it out with some 15-minutes that I really liked.

I tried out some good messy brushes in Procreate for those last two (I think they all came in the default "inking" section of the app).

I also remembered to export a quick video of tonight's session this time! I've attached it here in case you're into that kind of thing. :)

Just a reminder that Mathew's Wednesday night 8:30 (EST) sessions are available to the public, so you can join us! Just follow the instructions here and be patient (there's always a bit of setup).

The entry fee is just $3 (for reference, I pay $6) so it's super affordable, and there are a lot of amazing cartoonists who come to it! Our model Mathew being one of them. :)

Bonus, if you're shy: nobody can see your artwork, we're all just there quietly drawing together. It's a nice atmosphere!

That video was so soothing. It also made me appreciate the hand on the stretched leg in the first 15 minute one!

I recommend trying it! I was intimidated because I recognized some of the names and had imposter syndrome haha. But everyone's really nice, and it's good to get some figure practice in. Even when I'm in "I don't wanna draw" mode it's nice, because it's figure drawing. Gestures aren't supposed to be pretty, no one's expecting your 15 minute pose to be a masterpiece.

The best part is knowing that nobody is really paying attention to you, they just like knowing you're around! (I'm glad you made it out again!)

thank you! I'm glad you shared the group with us! I'm really good about doing month-long art challenges a few times a year and then really bad about keeping up just general practice in between those. It's good to have something that is like "ok go do practice, now. and not just for five minutes."
