When I drew Miranda's yellow shoes on page 2, I knew I'd better put her whole outfit together before drawing the rest. Miranda doesn't own sweatpants; she represents her own personal take on "mom in the 70s/80s" 100% of the time.

(Except her shoes - they're usually modern throwbacks to the old days, because have you ever tried to wear a cool vintage pair of shoes? OUCH!)

While working on next week's pages, I drew the tiniest silhouette of Miranda's coworker, and couldn't help moving forward with Ty's design:

This one is hush-hush for now, and subject to change; Ty is based on someone in town who looks... almost exactly like this. I don't know them at all, though, and I'm not sure how they (he? she? ze?) identifies, so I'm waiting to hear back from a mutual friend who worked with them before I move forward.

I really really hope they'd be cool with this because I like the character so much already! But, unless it's a definite "OH YEAH, actually they'd love it," I may redesign them to look less similar in shape, but keep the eyepatch.

(To be fair, I have a backup femmy-girl-with-an-eyepatch design that'd be pretty fun, too.)

(But I very much want to draw someone with a rat-tail.)

Miranda's coworker silhouette looks like Sadie from Steven Universe!! :)

OH! That drawing on the left *is* Sadie - I just dropped it in for reference, because that's the body type I'm going for!

Oh that is awesome. I'm a huge Steven Universe fan so it made me smile! Thanks for clarifying :)
