Hey, happy Tuesday! I thought I'd be drawing the whole time I was with my family, but after a year of barely seeing them, I kept my devices in my bedroom and just spent the whole visit hanging out with them. (We all made plans to quarantine the two weeks before Christmas so we could spend the holidays together.)

My brother bought an iPad Pro recently, and while we were going over all the stuff we haven't been able to share in person all year, I remembered Flipaclip and all the animations I made during those months that were somehow both yesterday and also a decade ago (February and March).

I got him and my dad both to animate little dumb things on the app. I think I deleted Brent's, but here's my dad's first one (shh don't tell him I showed you):

Here's his second attempt! He learned!

Anyway, I made that quick 5-frame horse & bird to show how easy it is to make it look like you know what you're doing, and then colored it:

Then everyone went to bed and I spent an idiotic amount of time making this 50-frame animation:

These things take such a stupid amount of time to make, but I love that I never know how they're gonna end up. They just grow from frame to frame. :)

I'll have a few little paintings to show off to you next! They're almost done. Here's a teaser clue: DnD 5.0 Monster Manual (nerrrrds).

If you're the Christmas-celebrating sort, what'd you end up doing for your holiday? Whatever you did over the last week, away or alone or in your established bubble, I hope it was fulfilling. <3

We visited my MiL, made a meal together, exchanged gifts, and then watched The Christmas Chronicles 2. It was a very lazy day, and it was great. I did miss the extended family and the White Elephant exchange we normally do at my aunt's house. But that's 2020 for you.

Only the cover image is animated here on Android patron app 😔

I cooked a bunch, ate too much, stared at a lot of paperwork that just confused me, and cuddled on the sofa with a heating pad, blanket, book/Kindle and 2 kittens. Also repeatedly told hubby I love him.

Oooh this is a textbook perfect holiday, IMO. :) (I too ate way too much, and have hardly eaten anything in two days and STILL feel like someone needs to roll me into next week. Blugh!)

Bill Plympton-esque! Very cool.

also I made a dessert that no one else will eat but me, apparently, even though it's solid sugar and I have to cut down on sugar and HAM FOR DAYS even though I have to cut down on THAT, too fun

We did family Zoom calls (one with each side of the family). What I've loved about celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas via Zoom this year is that everyone is equally included. My parents and a few aunts and uncles live driving distance away, so I'm used to having a special in-person gathering with them while the farther-away relatives are relegated to a phone call. This year, everyone was on equal footing. One of those "this is nice; we should keep doing it once in awhile even after lockdown ends" lessons.

Aww that's a sweet new change. :) We've had a similar revelation with our family in California; that we don't need to wait until the once-every-few-years in-person get-together to catch up once in awhile. Glad you enjoyed yours!

Neal and I stayed home (family that we'd normally visit this year won't quarantine) and had a nice, relaxing day. We got up, lounged around, made homemade manicotti (yum!), watched some cheesy movies, opened gifts, and talked with family. It was the best Christmas I can remember having for a long time: no rushing, no anxiety, no family stress. I'm trying to convince Neal that we don't want to travel for Christmas anymore, because it's snowy and who knows what can happen. We should do our yearly family trip in the summer, right?!

dcorsetto

Oooh man, yeah, screw Christmas travel up there, that sounds awful! I like the idea of making up for it in the summer, sans gift-anxiety. ;) Glad you both had such a sweet relaxing time!

We also had the Least Stressful Christmas Ever! Just me, DH, and DD home from college. Little pre-decorated tree, not the 12 foot Tree From Hell that takes 3 days to put up and 7 months to take down. It was lovely!
