I *still* have a stupid-long ethernet cable in my box of cords. Despite its stupid longness, it too would not have reached.

Here are those two pages closer-up!

I'll be taking next week off for the holidays, but that means I'll probably be drawing FOR FUN (a luxury!!) and sharing whatever I draw with you patrons, since I've barely been doing anything outside Elephant Town the last couple of months and, well, I miss sharing things with you. If you're a patron, you'll hear from me!

Otherwise, you'll hear from me in the new year. Stay safe out there, and whatever your holiday looks like this year, happy holidays to you and your little bubble. <3

I’m commenting six years late to say that my husband still insists on using an Ethernet cable for his work laptop

I did take a drill at that point, to route the stupidly long cable through the walls :D Happy holidays to you, too!

I lived in a single-family house for a few years 20 years back (and love the fact I don't any more, it really was a hassle) and actually ended up cabling it all over, installing ethernet wall sockets in every room. Of course, at that point wifi really wasn't an option yet. After having installed the fixed cabling, all the stupidly long ready-made cables became redundant, and I used them as clothes lines between trees in my garden. Worked surprisingly well.

Max length is about 300 feet, right?

Jeremy Bearimy (@satyric)

After years of this (though the stupid long cable was blue) we finally got a little google hockey puck network extender thingy which lurks behind stuff in the kitchen and blankets the entire downstairs.

I used to live in a place far away from civilization with no official internet services (the official part is important). So there came a couple shady people ofering their internet service, who were using antennas to rip internet access from who knows were (maybe the nearby airport) and the only way to connect the computer was through an ethernet cable. I too got the longest one I could find just to be able to use the computer on my bed haha ='D.

And this is why I spent the ridiculously big buck$ on the router that sits next to the modem so the signal reaches through the plaster walls of our Victorian house. Hell, it reaches all the way out to the detached garage. That being said, I feel that cable length frustration in my very soul. Love the office in the converted porch!

Ruth Merriam

I still have coils of that blue cable because You Never Know When You Will Need It.

I finally bought a through-the-plaster-walls router a few months ago for my built-like-a-New-England-home house (it just keeps rambling back room by room), and, same, it even reaches to the garage. I had made countless plans to wire an ethernet cable out the window along the siding before realizing I could just... update my router!

Terry Peterson

I don’t think my stupid long Ethernet cable can even be used anymore because my laptop doesn’t have a port. I’ll still keep it in the box however.

Hugh Eckert

Been there. Right now, the router signal is *just* strong enough to cover the house. Happy holidays!

Ripley LaCross

Oh man someone get this woman an extender puck!!! Our last two apartments had ethernet cables going everywhere for our computers, the TV, etc. Finally living somewhere where the modem is right in the middle of the apartment.

kaitou

Have a happy and safe holidays. (I had to crawl through the crawlspace to run my line from the cable modem to where the wifi router wanted to be. Still need to run another line to get to another room. *sigh*)

Cab

That's sooo frustrating hahah!

Minzoku Bokumetsu

haha, I'm pretty sure that's the cable brand we use, too!
