I look ridiculous but I am SO comfortable.

This is me procrastinating. Chapter 6 is the first chapter of Elephant Town that wasn't fully written when I started sharing the pages in May, and I decided last-minute to start with a completely different scene next Monday. So, I'm procrastinating because that's what I do when I'm feeling uncertain.

Will it be fine? Of course it will. But Monday's update will only be two pages because of the delay.

Okay, that's partially false; it'll only be two pages because this week I started three different very cool things, which I'm sure you'll hear about more in the near future:

two new interns (virtual interns from the school I teach at in Denmark)

guest teaching two life drawing classes for CCS

working with a comics student at CCAD as they illustrate a script I wrote

My life is undeniably rad. But I also just went from averaging one or two Zoom meetings a month to having like... six in a week. Should be easier from here out, but you know how the most time-consuming part of a project is the beginning!

If my interns are comfortable with me sharing their work here, you'll see it; they're both (unsurprisingly) super talented.

Ha! I wear, to be comfy, this super brightly embroidered older mama dress/caftan that I got in Mexico. It washes awesomely, is so so nice to wear and my guy does not hate it. The flowers on it are all sort of electrified colors and that also makes me happy. Will it be worn ever in public? Hell no! So enjoy your ensemble!

Comfy trumps ridiculous every time. My winter pandemic uniform: Hoodie with weird logo over t-shirt with snarky saying; garishly patterned pj pants; sheepskin slippers (often socks as well); ratty fingerless gloves.

I do NOT envy your Zoom calls, but that outfit is PEAK Quarantine Chic!

Wearing thick wool socks all day, every day during the winter reminds me about how much I miss wearing wool socks all day every day during every other season.

"Favourite clothes all at once" is like hugging yourself, yet simultaneously also being hugged by everyone you love. If I'm feeling low I like to choose my outfit on colour and/or feel to be extra kind and loving to myself (instead of my normal "You could have done better...")

Dean Reilly

You should wear that outfit when you're teaching your class. Show them the glamorous life of a cartoonist!

I still try to wear streetwear, but keep layering on more stuff to stay warm until I look like a toddler going out in a blizzard (even though I'm staying in). If I have any concerns about my "look," all I have to do is glance outside at my 20-something-year-old neighbors with their tatty hair and truly all over the place clothing choices and I think, nah, I'm good. In fact, why am I *not* wearing my fleece jammy pants? Can't wait to see what you've been working on and I hope your peeps will let you share their work as well.
