I woke up and thought this was the most brilliant insight in the world, that I had better reading comprehension in my sleep than in real life.

Bonus content: the book was a first-person nonfiction account of the Holocaust. Excellent work, brain, great choice!

Oh, wow! So do you have a hard time getting into a flow-state when you read? A state where the book plays out more like a movie in your mind's eye? Nonfiction is definitely hard for me to achieve this with, but pop fiction like middle, low or urban fantasy (probably started with Harry Potter) I can easily visualize. (High fantasy can give me problems sometimes, too.)

I can easily visualize everything, but only in spurts because my brain goes EVERYWHERE else! I've been meaning to make a comic about how my brain works normally; like a radio where you can mostly make out the station you're trying to listen to, but ALL of the other stations are also just barely audible (and some overwhelmingly so) at the same time. I guess when I dream, my brain just lets itself weave those other "stations" into the current song that's playing, making up a new song.

I love how everyone's mental patterns are so varied! I have the exact opposite problem. I'll get mired in the task at hand (e.g. reading) to the detriment of everything else. This can easily include thirst, hunger, and potty breaks. It's great if I'm on-task, but horrible if I'm not. Inertia and switching tasks is my kryptonite, and time is overly elusive to me. I wish I had your contextual awareness, Danielle! Cheers!

...and then your CAT had a CONVERSATION with you. That's more exciting to me than the dream.

To be far, that was the best part.

Fully flushed? PS I hate these kinds of dreams, where you wake up thinking you've had the most incredible experience and/or the greatest idea of all time.

Hmm is that a term I turned into something else by mistake? Fully fleshed-out! Shit, nobody says "fully flushed," do they? In my defense, I woke up at 4:45 this morning after 4 hours of sleep and wrote this... !

Is this Pip? Saying more than just "HEY!"? =O I once dreamt about a student MOVIE I somehow filmed and rendered ALL BY MYSELF, which... is when I realised I didn't actually do it =( but I remember ALL OF IT so I could theoretically hire someone to help me actually make it! (I made a superhero samurA.I. that was supposed to save the world from an evil A.I. supervirus but at the key moment it missed and ended up getting devoured and I yelled at it that it had ONE JOB)

I understand. I had just assume it was some secret phrase that the cool kids hadn't shared with me. ;)

I’d always heard that you can’t read text in your dreams, because of the nature of dreams or some such . It was in Batman: the Mask of the Phantasm, but more importantly my very good psychiatrist told me that later on. He told me that because I told him I had a dream where I was reading a Tom Clancy-ish novel (I’m not proud). I’ve had it happen a few times since, and yes, sometimes the text becomes real and it turns into a normal, weird dream. I’d never heard of anyone having a similar experience, so thanks so much for sharing!
