If you're seeing this post, you probably also saw (and maybe voted in) the last story poll I posted:

"Taxidermied Animal" was added as a throwaway, but it was in the lead for a good while! So I hustled to write a dumb taxidermy joke, in case it won:

Lucy peeked at my pencils while I was working on them, and guffawed at the horse part. "NAILED IT," I thought.

In the end, "Waterbed" won. So I hurried to write a dumb waterbed joke:

I showed it to Lucy and it DID NOT RECEIVE A GUFFAW. (Despite having a boat in it!!)

We chatted about it for a moment, and I decided to go with the horse, despite the poll results.

My apologies to you Waterbed Enthusiasts, but I hope sharing my dumb alternative makes up for it!

You'll hear one more quick announcement from me soon (last-minute livestream from 8-10 EST tonight), and then I'll stop peppering your inbox with notifications. :)

My first husband and I had a bedroom that was like a berth. You climbed up the rungs of some 2x4s to get into the lower left edge of the queen sized waterbedroom. Yes, the bed filled the room which was 4' off the floor and entirely enclosed. It was paneled with old tongue-in-groove boards and had a small swing-out window on one wall, and something like a little skylight. We had little ship lanterns on the walls. It was super cozy. Only when you are very young can you get in and out of something like that. It was in a converted cranberry picker's shack/garage.

I voted for waterbed. You (and Lucy) definitely made the right choice! In the end, execution is everythng.

So much better than the whole room being a tarantula.

Maybe you can offer them a free placement for their Fall campaign -- "Revolving Beds...They're Not Just For Creepy 1970s Record Executives Anymore."
